Time for a new game.

Apr 11, 2009 23:15

After inviting himself into the next house, Paul lingers in the foyer, waiting for Peter to finish tying the boat and join him. After five minutes, he starts getting frustrated, and goes back outside to see what is taking him so long. But when he opens the door, he isn't facing the bay. Instead, it's a beach, complete with gently waving palm trees ( Read more... )

For now, Sylar is sitting at the bar, contemplating his next move. He's noticed that new people often come into the lobby, so he sits around, observing, waiting.

He notices the two young men stroll into the lobby, dressed in blindingly white clothing, perfectly attired, dressed to a T, wearing white golf gloves. He's intrigued, so he decides to stand up and head over to them.

"Welcome to the island of screwed up realities, my friends," he says to them darkly. "Let the games begin."

This strange greeting makes Peter smile a little, amused. "Screwed up realities?" he echoes. "I'm afraid I don't understand."

"I'm sorry -- we were trying to find a friend's house. We obviously got a little lost. Could you help us?" Paul smiles, too, deciding not to comment on the mention of games. Not yet, at least. "I'm Paul and this is Peter. Could you tell us where we are?"

"We're all a little lost on this island, I'm afraid," Sylar says, folding his arms over his chest and leaning casually against the front desk. "But the good news is that you can find almost anything you want here. The island creates things for you, somehow. Anything you need."

He pauses and looks at them for three seconds. "Seemingly perfect."

"We're all a little mad here," Paul smiles, Sylar's comment reminding him of Alice in Wonderland. Which would make he and Peter Tweedledee and Tweedledum, wouldn't it? What a fun image. "It does seem.... perfect," he remarks, quietly, looking around the lobby.

Paul's quote resonates with Peter and inspires him to continue. "I'm mad," he informs his friend. "You're mad. And down the rabbit hole we go."

"I think we've already fallen down the rabbit hole, Tweedledum. And now we're in Wonderland, on the other side of the looking glass." The stranger is nearly forgotten as Paul feels the beginnings of a new game form in his head. Maybe a whole theme of games.

Shilo's sitting inside, tucked up on a couch with a sandwich and her book. When she notices them there she looks up and gives them a small friendly smile and a murmured hello as she turns the page. She probably won't look much like the kind of people they were expecting with her high boots and fishnet gloves.

She's got her insect bag with her, with one of the empty jars sitting on the table by her. There's also a straight razor for opening up the bodies of larger bugs that she's taken to carrying around in her bag with the rest of her kit, just in case.

Paul tilts his head at the curious young girl. Definitely not the type he and Peter usually see on their little adventures. But she could be interesting, all the same. "Hello, miss. We seem to be lost, I'm afraid."

"We were trying to get to our friends' house, but got lost on the way," Peter continues. "We're sorry to disturb you, but could you possibly help us find our way?"

Shilo shakes her head. "You're more lost than you think. There's nothing else on the island and I haven't heard of anyone finding anything but ocean for as far as anyone's been able to go." She sounds a little apologetic.

"That's a shame. Have you been trying to leave?" Looking towards Paul, Peter sighs. "Looks like we're marooned. Ridiculous."

"Marooned? How tragic. We'll be very very late, they're going to be furious with us." Paul frowns and looks over at Peter, then back to the young girl. "How long have you been here?"

"If you're trying to get home," Peter offers, "we have a boat."

Jon is always ready to play a game. He is about to pass by when hears them mention a playmate, which makes him smirk and steps over to them.

"I take it you're a little lost," he purrs, raising an eyebrow at them. "How unfortunate."

Typist: Be warned, if they try something with Jon he may also torture them in a lengthy manner and will probably not be so polite about it. Haha. I think he'll like them, though. His sort of people.

Peter turns at the sound of Jonathan's voice, smiling pleasantly at this new man. "Isn't it? We've gotten completely turned around."

Paul clasps his hands behind his back, studying Jonathan closely, trying to size him up a little. "We were on our way to a friend's house... We'll probably be late now."

"Very unfortunate," Peter repeats. "He'll be heartbroken."

"Oh, I'm sure," Jon responds, voice heavy with indifference. He's sizing them up, too, and likes what he sees so far. "I suggest you forget your friend quickly," a story he doesn't quite believe, "because you're stuck here."

Rich and upscale, indeed: have a Laura, standing with arms folded over her vintage-appearing dress, at the bottom of the stairs, making no pretense of doing anything but watching the newcomers with raised eyebrows.

Approach away, her expression says.

Oh, she's pretty. Now that's a proper greeting for a hotel like this. Peter smiles up at her, a few strands of hair falling into his eyes. "Hello, there."

It's times like these when Paul almost, almost finds Peter adorable. He turns his attention back to the girl and smiles as well, taking a few steps towards her. "Hello, miss. We think we might be lost. Can you tell us where we are?" She looks like she could be fun to play with. He'd love to see what lies behind that tough exterior.

Her eyes dart around the lobby before settling on the two young men in front of her. "It's called the Hotel," she says with a shrug. "Nobody knows exactly where it is or how you get here, but it's not a shabby place to wind up."

"No, it looks quite nice, actually." He studies her intently, his mind already working on ideas for games to play with her. She might be interesting. Paul hopes she will be, at least.

"It looks quiet," Peter points out, already pointing out the negative (on his way to the positive). "Calm. There isn't much to do here, is there?"

"Well I'm sure we can make our own fun, can't we?" Paul gives Peter a private, amused smile, tucking his hands into his pockets. "Maybe would could find enough people for a game of golf. Or tennis, even."
