And his fiancee, who'd definitely been fretting, will be turning a corner and emit a noise somewhere between a gasp and a shriek, darting over to him.

"Oh, my God. Dick. Dick, are you..." She kneels next to him and takes a few ragged breaths, trying her hardest not to cry.

She'll tentatively reach a hand towards the duct tape. "Is it okay... if I try to take it off?"

The sound from behind the tape sounds like a yelp and Dick sits up to shift away from her. He hugs his knees to his chest, curling up as if to hide.

He shakes his head (although is might just be the trembling - it's hard to tell), tugging at his hair and twitching more. The whimpers are gone, replaces by quick and panicked breathing.

Bruce is keeping an eye out for Dick, has been since Barbara told him he'd missed Valentine's day. He heads downstairs and freezes for just a moment, then runs over to Dick and crouches next to him carefully.

"Dick -- hey. Hey, you're okay now."

Dick whimpers, a little louder than before, and blinks up at Bruce as though he's seeing him for the first time. After a few moments he curls up more and clenches his eyes shut.

While Dick's eyes are closed, he's going to take the opportunity to pull the tape off, keeping his voice low and soothing.

"It's okay, Dick. It's Bruce. I'm not going to hurt you."

When the tape is off, Dick's whimpers turn into a scream and he claws at Bruce as if he's going to save him from something.
