Here's Bruce, then, wandering by -- and being Bruce, he can't help but be rather incessantly nosy. So he picks the gun up and examines it carefully, and in doing so, accidentally touches the trigger and is suddenly -- quite a lot shorter. Here's an eight-year-old Bruce Wayne, dressed in a suit and looking a mixture of mostly broken and really confused.

The little boy looks familiar when Jim sees him, but why doesn't click right away. Nevertheless, he's a lost kid, and Jim's a cop, and so he goes towards him, concerned. "Are you alright, son?"

Bruce freezes a minute and watches him intently, then gives him a doubtful headshake. "My parents --" he says quietly. "What--" He takes a shaky breath and trails off, shuddering and trying not to cry, because Bruce Wayne is too old to cry.

"I'm..." Gah, what do you say to introduce yourself to your twelve-year-old boyfriend? "I'm Barbara. Gordon. We... know each other a lot better later on."

Well. He's the son of two reporters, how could he not be expected to be nosy? So Jason was scrambled up on a chair, poking at the gun, and just happened to hit it the wrong way. Now he's --about eleven years older.
