Luka has brought his son Joe down to the lobby area, having chosen one of the seating areas out of the main traffic-flow, the Croat is sitting on the edge of his chair's cushion coaxing the boy to walk to him

Geoffrey always reads out of the main traffic-flow, so he's nearish when he hears a familiar voice. He peeks out from behind his book and smiles a little before it turns bitter in the thought that that could have been him if things had worked out differently...
But either way, he doesn't want to interrupt, but Luka is free to notice him as he wishes.
"That's it...come on." Luka can't help but smile as Joe releases his hold and the toddler manages three solid steps before he loses his balance and ends up falling. As he hits the floor he can't help but cry, more from surprise then his being hurt, and Luka is immediately on his feet so he can first comfort him, then reassure him that he is fine and ca start again.
"You're all right baby." He gives Joe a kiss before sitting him back on the ground, his attention more on his son then those around them.
"Ready to try again?" He wipes the last of Joe's tears away before backing away from him again.
"Come to Tata, Joe." He holds a hand out to encourage him to walk to him again.
Geoffrey put his book down because honestly? This was more interesting than Stanislavsky. He leaned forward, watching Joe intently and mentally encouraging him. It was a metaphor for life, really, this toddler trying to walk. Too many people just crawl through their life with no courage to stand up and walk for themselves, and yet here was this little kid trying it. Inspiring, when you thought about it.
Instead of returning to his chair, Luka squatted a short distance in front of his son, close enough that he could likely grab him with a quick lunge if need be, but far enough that Joe would be able to take several steps once the momentum hit him.
"You can do it." His words to the boy remained in Croatian as he coaxed him to take his first steps, when Joe began to move a smile spread across his face, and it was all he could do to remain where he was.
Lucy stops in the lobby as she's heading inside with Chance to watch Luka and Joe. The leashed golden retriever's still frisking about happily, with a frisbee in his mouth.
Lucy, painfully aware of how awkward a conversation could be, after not having spoken to Luka since her arrival, offers a bit of a smile. "Hi. Wow, he's getting big."
"We're good, all things considered." He can't help but study the young woman in front of him for a minute as he remembers their last conversation.
"How about you, looks like you've found a new friend, are you getting used to things?" He pulled Joe back toward him as the toddler started to stray a little too far from him.
"Be nice to the dog, Joe." He issued the warning even before the child got close enough to touch it.

"Hi, yourself, yeah..he's growing quite a bit." He smiled down at his son as the child babbled at the dog.
"How are you doing?" He reached for Joe, snagging the back of his pants with one hand as the child started to crawl toward the dog.
