With no fuss and only the usual noise, a blue police box appears.

It looks no different than the multitude of others, and why should it? Why should it indeed.

It isn't long before the door opens and a man steps out-- suave, elegant, maybe a little too elegant. He wears a long high-collared cloak, a tuxedo, and black gloves. As for his face, well ( Read more... )

Jake looks up with an amused grin when he hears the Tardis arriving, and if something about this Doctor feels slightly off he overlooks it for the moment. After all, it is just the Doctor, right? "Hullo, Doctor. Which one are you, then?"

He hadn't necessarily intended for the Doctor to be known here, but he does not look surprised. He merely taps one gloved finger against his cheek as he ponders the question. "Ah," he says finally, "you tell me."

He's a little confused by that, but laughs it off. "How should I know? I really only know the one of you. The tenth. In the suit."

"Tenth," he repeats. "Careless, careless. I should have known." He quickly recovers himself and gives Jake an appraising smile.

Now usually the Doctor could tell when he'd run into himself...even if it was a future incarnation. But...well that didn't happen this time..and yet here he was calling himself the Doctor and exiting a blue police box.

He dips his head slightly, "Doctor," he greets him. So he might be the most gullible of incarnations but he's willing to let everyone have a chance...

"Doctor!" he exclaims, holding out his arms in a show of welcome. There's a flash of something feral in his eyes, but the grin is (falsely) warm, (seemingly) sincere.

This is not unwanted, not at all. An opportunity.

This Doctor wasn't exactly one for such large displays of emotion...even if it was one of his future selves. "So which one are you?"

"Eleventh." He speaks the word with relish, as if it delights him merely to think it-- and perhaps it does. And then just as quickly, he pulls a face. "The regeneration went a bit off, I'm afraid."

"I haven't met this you yet. Which are you? Certainly not anything below the Fourth. Maybe you're the Seventh? Or the Eleventh?" She tips her head at him. "It's always good to see you, Doctor."

"Eleventh, my dear." He offers her a hand. "Though I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage." With the index finger of his free hand, he taps at his forehead, his eyebrows raised. "Memory loss, you see."

Memory loss. She looks almost heartbroken at the idea. She takes his hand though and squeezes it gently. "I'm Rose. Rose Tyler. I met you in your...Ninth? Yeah, Ninth incarnation. I travelled with you all throughout that incarnation and with the Tenth too. We got separated, but it's okay now. I'm...am I not with you anymore?"

"Has it been a long time?"

The Master squeezes back and gives her the look of a long-suffering, lonely Time Lord. He's practiced. "Rose Tyler. I'm pleased to meet you-- again." He raises her hand and kisses it. "No, I'm sorry, I haven't a... companion. It's been--" a pause and a sigh-- "far too long."

She's thrown. Perhaps it's the collar, or the tuxedo. None of it seems like any Doctor she's ever known. It all seems so conformed, and he doesn't feel like the Doctor. She allows herself to believe him though.

"Good evening, Doctor."

His smile, as well, is a bit off around the edges, but off or not, it's utterly charming. "Ah, Nyssa. Good evening."

"Which are you then?" She moves towards him, hands behind her back. "So many of you arrive here, I worry that something terrible is about to happen..."

He laughs at that, of course, and eventually wills it to become the laugh of man who is dismissing the idea as ridiculous. "Eleven. And you speak as if trouble follows me..."

And from seemingly nowhere another Doctor approaches, stepping into what is most definitely his personal space.

"Hello!"

The Master does not react to the invasion of his personal space; it's a trick he's pulled plenty of times. "Hello," he answers smoothly, "Doctor, if I am not mistaken."

Still with what seems like an impossibly chirpy voice. "Ahh so you've heard of me? All good I hope?" he grins wide. "And who might you be?"

A suave grin, if he does say so himself-- and he does. "Eleventh."
