Laurie came running up as he heard Jo's voice, "Jo -- Jo! There you are!" Then he realized that she probably didn't want to see him. Well fine, he didn't want to see her, either. "I mean -- I'll leave you alone, nevermind. Welcome to a new adventure," he added dully, as he turned to walk away.

"Laurie...!" She takes a few steps towards him, then stops, biting her lip.

He stood with his hands behind his back, very formal, "Do you know where we are?"

The formality is making her want to cry, but she manages somehow not to. "No... no, I thought I was in the attic, but..." She looks around helplessly.
