I've a question for you all, actually. The current rule on puppet inactivity in the userinfo is:

Characters who have not posted or commented for four weeks are automatically eligible for pickup by another player. A player that wishes to take an inactive character must post on the main community expressing a desire to do so. If the original player does not respond until the post reaches the second page, the character changes hands.

Obviously, the second part should be changed to "post in the OOC comm", if anything, since that's what everyone's been doing. But the point that I don't get is -- if a character hasn't been active for 4 weeks, does the new typist really have to ask?

There're quite a few characters on DF that aren't active, but are still considered "taken" by the typist (and by the rest of the members of the comm). The problem is, there are times when people don't have the opportunity/time to play certain characters but still want to keep them, or the character is so minor that s/he was only taken up to freak out characters from their own canon, or puppets were taken up in a spur-of-the-moment OMGSHINYCANON thing and then forgotten. (Guilty, guilty, and guilty. *sheepish* I'm not pointing fingers here, really, unless I'm pointing them at myself.) Also, I know that some people would appreciate it if certain characters were played more. There's also the question of chat activity.

I don't think the current rule's working, but that's just me. 40+ puppets is an awful lot to keep up with (I can speak from experience), and honestly, I think it's unfair to other typists if you have inactive ones, or if you have a lot and never have them comment to intro posts, or -- well, you get the point. But if nobody else has a problem with the current rule, then hey, I'm fine with that. :)

Basically, what I'm asking is -- Should we keep the rule the same (the ask-before-you-take-up policy)? Should we change the time limit to 2 months before inactive puppets can automatically be taken up? Keep it at 4 weeks? Keep a list of taken puppets (that opera_phantess has so wonderfully started up for us) or reduce it to just active puppets? What about being active in chat? Should there be more/less/same mod regulation when it comes to inactivity? Puppet limit? *gasp* I just spoke the forbidden words. :O. .. Am I just being too nitpicky/anal-retentive? >__>

Open to discussion, obviously. XD
