Jackrabbit is busy playing with a peice of gum, chewing it and pulling it in strings out of his mouth, shoving it back in, and repeating this motion gleefully.

He saw the new person come in, jumped up, gum still hanging out of his mouth. Embarassedly, he shoved it back in his mouth and said. "Ah, hello."

"Having fun with that, then?" Sirius grins.

"Uh huh," he says, embarassed, and swallows it.

Sirius looks rather amused by that. "You know, from what I hear, you're not supposed to swallow it."

"Well, where in hell did you expect to be?" The rather dry reply comes from one Remus Lupin, who's flopped in a chair. "And what took you so long?" I've been here ages, Pads."

Sirius' grin brightens exponentially and he practically pounces Remus, ending up sprawled across his lap. "Hullo, Moony! Fancy finding you here."

"Yes, well, I've been here over a year." He ruffles Sirius' hair, a bit carefully. "If you're going to throw yourself at me, do it gently, hm?"

A low whistle escapes Sirius' lips. "A year? Bloody hell." A pause. "And why should I be..." it occurs to him what time of the month it is. "Right. Sorry, mate."

Mary shoves her hands in her pockets and offers him a small smile. "I don't think this is where anybody expected to be."

"Is that so?" Sirius smiles charmingly at her. "And where did you expect it to be, madam?"

"A different place in a different time."

"Well, that sounds reasonable. As did I. So we're rather in the same boat."

Sirius reminds Neil a bit of his friend Tony, and the memory pains him, because he was just getting used to the peaceful life here.

"I think a lot of us feel that way at first. I'm sure things will catch up with you eventually."

"Probably." Sirius says cheerfully. "Already ran into my best friend, and he says there's a couple more of us running about. So I'm not too out of place."

He sticks out a hand. "Sirius Black, by the way."

"That's lucky for you. I seem to have misplaced all my friends along the way. We were... sort of falling out, anyhow." Neil accepted the hand after a moment's hesitation; this was the most in-your-face person he'd run across in the mansion. Even next to Jackrabbit. "Neil Hurly. Pleased to meet you."

Harry smiles, looking a little tired. "Hi, Sirius."

Sirius blinks. Frowns. "James?"

No, it can't be. Too young, for one. And... just not quite James.

He gets a worried look at that. "Um.. no, I'm Harry. James's son...." He looks a bit sad that it seems Sirius doesn't even remember. Sometimes this place was a pain.

Sirius' eyebrows go up. "Bloody hell. You're... you are, you couldn't be anyone but theirs. Either this place is crazier than I thought or you sure grew up fast."
