Curious- it was all very curious how there had been a height to his career as Tesla's assistant to being hastily left in the lurch and now once again old names were popping up in papers and stream of daily conversation. Angier (there were others besides the one he had come to know...a family?), Tesler: rather than be haunted he had decided to seek ( Read more... )

She'll answer, politely, welcoming. In a tone like home Rupert would tell her. "I have found that most everyone who comes here has someone waiting for them."

"We call it "The Mansion", Sir. Can I help you? Maybe I've met someone you have come to find."

He offered the woman an appreciative smile and nodded politely where respect was due. "Then perhaps my search will come with a little luck," he grinned briefly.

"I happen to be looking for a Mr. Angier and a Mr. Tesla. Would you happen to know anyone of those names, ma'am?"

"Very well, actually." She smiles to him. "Rupert Angier is my husband, and he is here. And Mister Tesla and I had tea not a week ago when he arrived."

He's reading in the Mansion's study. His back is turned to the door.

"Nobody knows, sure." Jim smiled, shyly, "But I found my friend here, maybe you'll the same."

Alley turned to acknowledge Jim and studied him quickly before deciding he was no threat and offered a calm smile in return. "I hope so, too. Thanks very much...didn't catch your name."

Alley offered a hand, "Fareham Alley."

Typist: Thank you!

"Sorry." He flushed slightly, manners. "It's Jim Mack so." He shook the offered hand and noticed the cat, "Is that one yours?"

She's a child, so it can naturally be expected that the cat will gain her attention first. All girl children love furry and charming animals. She'll peer at it and grin.

After that she'll speak. "There are all sorts of people here. I bet that you can find whoever you want here."

He smiled fondly towards the child as she watched the cat lazily lick its paw within the carrier. He set it down on the nearest table that was more-or-less just her height so Snowshoes could peer out (if so inclined) and she could look in on the feline with ease.

"It certainly is a big place."

"It is even bigger than my papa's house. And Caldlow House was the largest I had seen." Lydia ventures and she smiles.

She likes cats, and she peers in at the cat, curiously, delightedly before looking back to the man and moving up on her toes so as to be more even. "Do you know who you're looking for? Maybe I have seen them." She laughs then. "Even if they are dead, because Daddy says it's a magic Mansion."

He lifted a brow at what this little girl's father had been filling her head with but made no expression of disapproval. She seemed the sweet sort who enjoyed a good story and her father was merely giving her; as a parent that made him grin just a bit.

"A Mr. Angier- he's a magician. Would you happen to have any of those around here?"

More from the entrance than inside the Mansion proper because he dislikes the building. "Another new person? This place--" He pauses to glare at the ceiling as representative of the rest of the Mansion. "This place is like quicksand."

Alley glanced over his shoulder towards the foreign-looking man before turning to give him his attention, "That's a less-than-endearing way to put it," he ventured calmly. If this man was bringing to attention the fast growing of the place, there was obviously few or no people who had managed to leave.

"It may even be an exaggeration, but it certainly feels that way. I'm Gwendal von Walde. Did you find who you were looking for?"

"Fareham Alley, Mr. von Walde," he offered a nod of greeting in an appreciative way, "exactly the people I was looking for, actually. A little strange, but satisfying."
