He politely knocks on the door, his clothes are immaculate. He is tall, a little over six feet, and guant but has a warm but solitary radiance in him. Outside there are many carts and boxes. He has arrived at the mansion hearing that there is ample space. He is in his mid forties and speaks softly with a Serbian accent. He gazes outside and he ( Read more... )

She recognizes him. Nikola Tesla. She's seen his exhibit in London with her husband, seen the machine he had constructed for him. She knows Nikola Tesla, if only from afar.

"Mister Tesla." She'll speak, almost in question form.

"I am." He replies mistakingly thinking her statement was really a question.

"Are you the owner of this establishment?"

"Oh no." She steps aside to welcome him in. "I...it's quite queer. No one seems to be in ownership of this place. People come from all over find themselves here and here they stay."

"Come in, won't you, Mister Tesla?"

A pause. "My name is Julia Angier. I had the pleasure once of viewing a demonstration in London."

He walks in and smiles. It's good to be among liked minded people again and the best part is if nobody owns this place nobody can charge rent. New York had not been so welcoming.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it Miss. Angier. Any relation to Rupert Angier?"

Angier can't help but smile as he catches the sight of Mister Tesla. He had been an admirer of the man's for some time before ever having been introduced. The magician owed a great deal to the extraordinary scientist, inspite of the gravity of the situation his help had thrust him into.

"Mister Tesla. What brings you here, might I ask? I'm begining to think I'm being followed, what with the number of people I know finding this place of late."

Tesla gives Angier a small smile as he is tired.

"It seems that I have over stayed my welcome in New York as well. I've come seeking bording." He pause looking back over at his stuff on the lawn to make sure nobody had meddled with it. The man looks into Angier's eyes again. There's a sadness, a regret, a something in that man's eyes. He notes that his presence has reminded him of some painful memory. Tesla removes his top hat before entering the mansion.

"The machine did not produce the results that you wanted." He said quietly. It's more of a statement than a question.

"Americans never have known talent when they see it. I was there for ages before I started drawing a crowd. By that time I had to go home." Not had to. Had chosen to. "At any rate, there's plenty of room here. I swear this place gets bigger and bigger with every new person. It must, I don't see how else it could hold everyone."

There had always been more for him in London than in America, in spite of what was always told. The magician knew that now, but had discovered too late.

The statement was not expected in the least, and the man could not help but drop character for a fraction of a second before picking up his charming smile again. Ever the performer. "It worked marvelously, actually. And the audiences loved it, it was truly the grandest thing ever to grace the stage."

Tesla nodds, "I'm glad it did not bestow any more problems." He has a small hint that Angier is hiding something but he won't pursue it. It's not his place and he quickly, if not awkwardly, changes the subject.

"You said there were others that you knew here?"

"Hello! Are you new here?" Murata smiles in greeting.

He pauses in the room and nodds, "I am. My name is Nikola Tesla. I'm a scientist." He crosses his arms behind his back as to avoid shaking hands. A small phobia of his.

He's not that used to shaking hands himself so he doesn't worry about that. "Nice to meet you! I'm Murata Ken. I haven't a job as I'm still in school! A scientist.. That must be very interesting." He gives him a look of curiosity.

"I find it so. I specialize in electrical engineering, more specifically alternating current." He's glad to have audiance that actually listens to him instead of calling him a madman.

"They contain my...work." He's nervous and doesn't know what to make of Ashley.

His curiosity is purely innocent, grown from boredom and loneliness, and his smile is sweet and a little fliratious. "... what do you do?"

He pretends not to notice the flirtation. He never lets his mind ponder anything that isn't purely science.

"I'm an electrical engineer. I experiment with alternating current."
