A traveller lost

She arrives on horseback, a black veil covering her face and hair. She dismounts, looking about herself in confusion. She has lost her guide, and her surroundings look very different than a moment before. Hesitantly, she draws back the veil, revealing shining black hair and lovely dark eyes.

*and here's an elfthing, reaching to pat the horsie on the nose (horses like elves, silly things), and giving its rider a smile* Greetings, lady.

*recognizes it as French -- that's the language Felix speaks -- but doesn't know anything beyond that, and so she smiles and says nothing and hopes he understands*

*her expression is one apologetically helpless -- she can't begin to answer, she doesn't know the words, and she's tired of feeling so utterly lost -- she responds with a few words of Arabic, not expecting to be understood*

*Mina immediatly realizes that this woman can't speak English and sighs* Oh, dear. Well, I'll try to get you to a room, and hopefully there will be someone here who can speak your language. *takes the other woman's hand gently and begins leading her to one of the unoccupied bedrooms*

*Mina seems friendly enough, and so, while a bit bewildered, Safie will follow willingly*

*she doesn't understand, but she knows she doesn't like his tone, and draws back a step, unnerved*

Oh my - he gets this totally, totally wrong, as he only knows - the wrong Felix, so far; and woman hiding behind a veil and man hiding behind a mask, that works, too, so his tone will be less than friendly.

"What would you want with that one?"

She doesn't understand, not a word of it, but she certainly catches his tone, and her expression is utterly confused and a little hurt -- what did she do to provoke him? she can't begin to guess. She'll respond in Arabic, words she finds herself saying constantly, of late -- "I do not understand."

Although he doesn't understand the words directly, he does figure out the meaning - namely, that she doesn't speak his language. Now he is - among other things - an obsessive linguist, so he'll try and repeat her words (and probably get them right on the third or so try). As always when he faces a fascinating puzzle, his head is slightly tilted to the side, and his eyes are very bright; and while he may not yet be friendly, the hostility will have gone.

Still a little uneasy, she is silent, watching.
