A re-introduction of sorts...

Sep 14, 2006 14:21

Enter, a relatively short and slender woman who carries a cream-and-grey treecat in her arms. She looks around curiously, not entirely sure where she is, but confident that the answer will come in time.

My name is Miranda LaFollet, and this is Farragut. She nods at the treecat in her arms. Has anyone seen my brother, Andrew? Or Steadholder ( Read more... )

Jared could home in on a Grayson accent from the next planet. Considering he was only in the next room, he is there in an instant. He grins despite himself at the resemblance that's further proof that yes, this is Colonel LaFollet's sister and bows politely.

"Not Regent Clinkscales, I'm afraid, Ma'am."

She turns around at the familiar lilt of another Grayson's speech. It's not quite a homing beacon, but it does help her feel a bit more relaxed. The face she sees is a stranger's, but the colors of his clothing seem... familiar. With a friendly expression and a curious voice, she replies:

... Hello?

He blushes. He'd forgotten to introduce himself.

"Jared Sutton, Ma'am. Flag lieutenant on GNS Terrible." He bites his lip to hide a grin. "Colonel LaFollet will be glad to see you, I think, Ma'am."

She begins to curtsy in response, then stops abruptly as she recognizes the name.

... -Lieutenant- Sutton?

Everything else he said is just lost for the time being.

*if there's one thing to get Andrew out in public, it's bound to be his sister (or possibly Honor forcing him out, but shh)*

Miranda! *grin* Steadholder Harrington is here, don't worry. --A number of others, too, but I'm sure you'll find that out soon.

Oh! A familiar face!

Andrew! You're here! I'm glad to see you. A frown of uncertainty appears on her face. Lieutenant Sutton said you were here... but... Andrew? I thought you said he... well... Continued in a hushed whisper he died defending the Steadholder?

*nods* He did. But -- people can come back here, Miranda. Paul's back. The Steadholder's married. *and this is a wavery sort of grin* She's got a son.

She looks uncomfortable at first. ... I don't know what to think about that, Andrew. Are you telling me that the Tester sends us -back-?

The expression changes then, as she's sure there will be other times to discuss this. And the next comment is delivered in a slightly amused tone. Andrew... I work at Harrington Steading, remember? Of course I know the Steadholder is married and has a son! With Admiral White Haven! And then she chuckles, as if to suggest Andrew's being a bit silly.

A tall woman wearing a light violet elven-style gown walks into the room. She smiles upon seeing Miranda.

Hello, Miranda! Your brother and the Steadholder are around here somewhere. I'm sure one of them will turn up, if they haven't already. Especially with that furry little broadcaster of yours around.

She thinks this new person to greet her does look a bit familiar, but she can't quite place it. The face and eyes are familiar, but nothing else is.

Oh! Thank you very much, Ma'am. I have indeed seen my brother. She smiles politely, as if waiting for the stranger to continue.

She smiles again. You're welcome. I hope he was glad to see you! I'm glad that he's going to have someone else to keep him company besides us. He needs someone around that he doesn't have to watch or feel compelled to practice martial arts with. Not that I'm particularly compelled to do that with him, considering the last time. She laughs, then thinks about something. You don't remember me? I know I don't come visit Honor as much as I should have, but you know the Navy. Never home.

... Martial arts, ma'am? But... She stops herself before making a pre-reform comment.

I'm sorry, Ma'am, you -look- familiar, but... Please tell me... Who are you?

Yes, last time I looked in the mirror, and no. *yes, that's a baibee she's holding and a Nimitz on one shoulder* *smiles* It's lovely to see you, Miranda.

My Lady! It's good to see you! And you have Raoul with you, I see? She chuckles a bit at Honor's deadpan comment about the mirror, but it is mostly covered by Farragut's enthusiastic "Bleek!".

OOC: Sorry about the comment spam! Had to fix an error that was annoying me ;)

I do. He doesn't like to be far from Momma and Nimitz. Say hello to Miranda and Farragut, sweet pea. *shifts him slightly so he can get a proper look at her*

Raoul: *blows a spit bubble at Miranda*

She thinks it will probably help get things straight in her head, so she asks:

... My lady? Andrew's told me that Paul Tankersley is back, and that probably means that things are a bit different here than they were at home... How old is Raoul now?
