The Count is back.

Sep 09, 2006 22:03

The Count is regrettably aware of how absent he has been from his friends here. However, his life back home takes more precedence and there is nothing that he can do about it. He does wish to make amends, and so he stops in to say, "Greetings."

The Count of Monte Cristo-for those that don't know. Sorry it has been ages since we were here last.

Hello. I'm newly arrived here, myself. Lady Tamarind Avourlace.

*The Count takes her hand in his and kisses it as only a gentleman would.*

Ah, so I am not alone here. That is good news because I had thought that people would talk about me abandoning them. That is further then the truth but it is hardly here nor there. It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Avoulace.

Have you been gone very long? I recently visited the Capitol(which, if my experience here bears out, is probably not your capitol), and my stay took much longer than I had intended. When I returned home, it was much changed. So I sympathize.

--looks down at the paper in her hand--

I was about to post a notice for a lady-in-waiting. Since you've been here longer than I, perhaps you could recommend someone to me?

I would love to suggest a lady-in-waiting for you, but as I have learned in this place...people come and go. I am not sure if the same women that I knew then are still here now. I am sorry that I can not help you.

"Welcome," cheerfully enough. "Or rather, welcome back, isn't it? I'm quite sure I've seen you in passing."

"Yes, only in passing is a good description of me in this place. I really should come back to visit more often, but my life is hectic right now. Thank you for your warm greetings, Mademoiselle...?"

She laughs easily, a little ruefully. "It's Florian. I'm afraid I'm not myself at the moment, but you're quite welcome. And quite wise to keep away, to be honest, if you're already... overwhelmed."

"Florian, what a beautiful name. You are not myself? Are you sick?"

"Bonjour, monsieur!" He gets a cheery wave and grin from Marius, who's wandering by in search of tea.

The Count respectably bows his head as the young man approaches him. "Bonjour."
