*awed by the pretty, fancy lady*

*wants a dress like that*

*shy for a moment, then suddenly--in French* Hello, Mlle.--or Mme.--Cosette! It is very nice to meet you as well. How do you? *curtsies* Thank you, I think it is lovely to do those things, too. I also like to repeat poetry for people to listen. Mama used to teach me to dance and sing, and I performed for the all gentlemen and ladies that came to see her. Shall I let you hear me sing now? *eager*

*awwwwww!*

*in French, again* Oh, Madame, but just Cosette is quite all right. It is very nice to meet you as well, and I am quite well, and you! How terribly polite you are! Your mother must have taught you your manners very well. *smiles* If you should like to sing, I should very much love to hear it!

All right, Madame! *warbles a little French tune of some sort; ends with a curtsy, and beams*

Thank you for listening, Madame Cosette. You are right, my mama taught me that it is important to be polite. Ladies are always polite!

*Frenchly* Why thank you, M. Courfeyrac. I am delighted to meet you and everyone else. ^_^ You abducted her! That sounds very exciting... *watches him wide-eyed for a moment; then smiles and chirps* May I sit upon your knee, Monsieur?

*perches on his knee, happily* Why is the abduction not fun? Don't you have games to play at your house?

*can somehow understand her even when she's speaking in French, because... because* *bows* Bonjour, Mademoiselle Adèle! Je m'appelle Peter Pan. I think you'll like it here. There are lots of children, and we even have our OWN place, away from the grown-ups. Do you like to play games, or just the piano?

Typist: Adeeeeeeeeeeele! Squee!

It is very nice to meet you, M. Peter. *curtsies* I have just visited your place and I like it very much. It will be nice to play with other children *though she rather likes grown-ups*. I like to play many sorts of games, like checkers and dolls and dominoes and hopscotch. What do you like to play?

Typist: I lurve Adele. ^.^

I wish the world could be all children. Then we could play all the time and no one would stop us! What's checkers? Is it a pretending game? Pretending games are my favorite kind.

But if the world were all children, who would take care of us? And who would have grand parties? I want to be a grown-up someday. Checkers is a game with a shiny wooden board and little red and black checkers that you slide across the many black and white squares on the board. And you try to make as many kings as you can, and to steal all the checkers you can. How have you not heard of checkers before?

*tries to follow, but as has only rudimentary French knowledge (and her typist has), fails*

*unwavering cheer, in English* Hullo! I'm Alice. You must be about my age. I'm seven and a half.

*in broken English* Hello, Mlle. Alice, it is pleasant to meet you. I am eight years... *suddenly very proud of the extra half-year, but does not look down upon Alice* But oui, we are very near ages. Do you visit the place for the children, as well? What do they do at that place? There are games?

*same as the above comments* Hello! My name's Madeline. Playing a piano is fun, isn't it? I think that perhaps someday it would be fun to learn. *smile*

*in French* It is nice to meet you, Mlle. Madeline. I love to play the piano. I only just started learning and it is rather difficult to reach all the keys because my fingers are small. But my nurse says I am getting better! If you should like to learn, perhaps Sophie--that is my nurse--can teach you, as well. Or perhaps Mlle. Jane Eyre could--she is my governess. Is she here? Are you from France, as well?

*nods* I would love to learn how to play piano! I don't think I have met her, but there are so many people here that she could be here. *pauses* I am not quite sure if I am from France - I have lived there for as long as I can remember and my great-grandad lived in Texas before he died. *looks thoughtful*

Oh. *also thoughtful* Did your mama and papa not tell you where you were born? And where is Texas?
