Well, we did it once before...

Earlier today, I was recalling that time on the ship, when on the behest of the old woman we were travelling with, we asked every person aboard to tell us their life story. And now, I have begun wondering if the same statement applies to the people of this community; that everywhere we go, we will find people who have had lives as miserable (or ( Read more... )

*quite innocently* The Fall? ... Oh! Do you mean the season?

No. The Fall from God's grace.

*not as surprised as he should be*

Oh dear. *bites his lip, and thinks for a moment* ... Are you not happy in Hell?

You sure you want to know my life story? That's a dangerous question, hun.

I grew up in New York, helping the lady next door with her kids. Mama died while I was still in highschool, never knew who my father was. I dropped out of highschool and got a job dancing at the Cat Scratch Club. Met and slept with a bunch of sleezy guys, got AIDS because of it. Couldn't pay my heat and electricity one month, so they shut it off. I took my candle and went around to different appartments until I met Roger. That's how I met all of my wonderful friends. The rest, as they say, is history.

*listens, nodding, and trying to understand all the words that are foreign to his ear*

Oh, my. That does sound quite horrible. ... I'm afraid that I am not as learned in history as I should be. Did everything end happily?

Oh, but how dreadful, to measure lives in how miserable they have been!

It isn't so dreadful, if I only remember that everything happens for the best. *smiles*

Exactly! Look at my story, hun.

But is it not just as well to look upon all the ways one's life is wonderful?

*bounces, eager* well, i --

i --

i can't quite remember. *deflates* wasn't a very long life, anyway, i don't think. though a bit tiresome sometimes, i suppose, what with the people pouring in at every side, shouting obscure instructions and mixing us up from here to breakfast -- but at least that was only near the end, then, wasn't it? ... i'd hate to think that was my whole life ... though, i suppose it might've been. or it might as well be -- i can't quite remember anything before it, either.

at any rate, i had a very good apple once.

*tries to follow along, but ends up confused*

Oh-- well-- ... *smiles as he says the bit about the apple*

Were you, at least, happy in the end?

Typist: Sorry. He can't help asking that. XD

*lacking a tongue to talk about it, or even hands to write about it, gives a short synopsis of titus andronicus in a form of charades crossed with interpretative dance. not exactly obvious, but one thing's clear: it's miserable.*

*catches his breath* *understands the general misery of what she just demonstrated, if not the specifics* *and even if he didn't, the fact that she is lacking in hands tells quite a lot, doesn't it?* O, wretched lady. *sympathyliekwhoa*

*look of concern* *would reach out and touch her shoulder, but first of all doesn't know how she'd react to that and secondly is not exactly clean and touchable himself*
Faith, lady, this fate should not have fallen to you.
