It is quite simple, really. We must look at the facts from the beginning. The chicken, seemingly calm, waited on one side of the road. Rather inexplicably, it dashed towards the other side as if its very life depended upon it. This appearance is quite trustworthy, as his life -did- depend upon it
( ... )
Not at all. A chicken does not have fingerprints, you see. However, their claw marks might be taken. Also, one might look for drift from their feathers and other telltale signs.
The best way is to look at this as an allegory of sorts. So the chicken was going to cross the road, but in this case the chicken can be likened to a deep-sea diver who is swimming with a raincoat. And the real problem develops when a hole begins to tear in the raincoat. Or when the salt content of the sea begins to rise. *triumphant grin* Think of that in terms of the chicken.
*level look* Only if, Arthur, Only if you remember that the chicken can also be likened by association not to conversation, which has a time and place in the interaction of a lover and a mate, but to the time of talking, using symbols, using words. *leans back, satisfied*

If a chicken -were- to cross a road, it would be because I kicked it to get it out of my way.
