The post regarding activities in chat.

Recently, we've had a bit of drama during the IRC chats. If you are not participating there, this obviously does not apply to you. The drama was largely centered around what was allowed and what wasn't. Rather than having a fluid sort of guideline that no one really understands (or enforces) the chat mods (being Fish, Mandy, Arsen, Leany and Britt ( Read more... )

*depuppets*

Although I have no time to participate in the chat, I strongly suggest to adhere to that very sensible separation of PG-13 and adult chats.

Kids, only one person has to run to the authorities about adult matters in chat that is open for minors... and this community will be over.

Sorry to put this so brutally, but there are people around with no sense of humour at all. And if you play online, you *never* know to whom you are talking.

Spawns etc: there are members here who cannot for some reason or other access the chat, but still want to participate in this community. If you want to keep us around, I would really, really ask for keeping things a bit more to the Live Journal Community and not introduce more and more weird things that were never in the books our puppets come from.

(I know: my puppet itself is not quite JRR Tolkien, but I really take pains to keep her within canon Middle-earth apart from the beginning of her story. But I have never encountered the abbreviations mentioned in this post ( ... )

Typist: I believe it is a nay. Or rather, a version of, "...I have no words with which to properly respond..."

Okay...sorry to be weird about this, but I want to make sure I'm staying PG-13. How would you define "getting it on." *blushes* I know that's a horrible question to ask you, but it needs to be asked! I mean, obviously, a full-on sex scene has no place in the chat and should be moved to #desperatefans-2 or AIM/MSN/Yahoo/whatever. But what about, say...heavy kissing/making out/snogging and the like? Is it better to be safe and just go into the 2nd room? Or can that stay in the normal chat? I just want to be clear on this.

I hate to do this to you guys ("you guys" meaning the mods, and I guess specifically you, Hermy-mun, because you're the Supreme Super-Duper Chat Person :) but examples really would help.

:\ I know they treat same-sex relations differently in the guidelines for movies (implied straight sex, for example, is PG-13 in the MPAA guidelines, whereas I think they call implied gay sex R) but it would seem -really- off to me, personally, if there was differentiation at DF of all places. I mean, it's pretty slash-friendly here, generally, and it doesn't seem as if there ought to be any difference (IMO, at least.)

Rest assured that there is no difference between same-sex couples and heterosexual couples when it comes to rules. I know my individual moral idea couldn't give a hoot about who tacklesnogs who, so long as it stays within limits.

The rules are the same for everyone. If you want to snog a boy, a girl, several people, a hamster ... Keep it PG-13. There's no difference.
