Oh dear, I hope you find some relief from your arthritis. I've never experienced that sort of pain, but I don't doubt it would make anyone unhappy. I have a friend (perhaps I should say "had" until I see him again) who I'm betting would know what would alleviate the pain. Sadly, I don't know much about medicine. Hopefully there is someone here that can!

Unfortunately, we have on the Nautilus only such remedies as can be got from the sea, and so far I have had no luck in making a cure for arthritis from seaweeds (though not for lack of trying). Thank you for your good wishes.

Sleeping is another thing in which I have difficulty. And I am not lying awake at night pining due to my lost love, whatever my secretary claims. I believe it to be something of a vicious cycle, as the pain prevents the sleep though the sleep might cure the pain.

My ship. I cannot see why, as it does not seem to me particularly to resemble a whale of any sort.
