*smiles prettily* Welcome, Mlle. Jones! I have seen M. Darcy about several times, so you shouldn't have trouble finding him or any number of other interesting people to speak with. I do hope you enjoy it here!

Miss Jones, it's a pleasure to meet you (I don't think we've ever been introduced, certainly). I'm afraid Mr Darcy tends towards silence (as do I - of late, at all events), but I can inform you that, if nothing else, he looks damnably good in a wet shirt so I doubt you'll hear from him soon.

Silent is good. Does he look like Colin Firth in the BBC version? Silly Bridget, the BBC did not exist at the turn of the century.

Remarkably like. The BBC didn't exist, but I have had the good fortune of being introduced to it and to the mini-series about myself. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Jones.

Isn't it hard switiching typists?

Nice to meet you, Bel. Yes, is v. difficult as first typist ran off. Am trying v. hard not to take it personally, as advised in Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

You seem a nice enough woman. I'm sorry your first typist ran away.

Is that a book?

Suddenly remembers that it promised Lockhart to read his. *groans*

Yes, it's a self help book. Oh, dear. Don't tell Lockhart that I work in publishing... is bad enough that many of my friends are aspiring authors who want me to "have a look" at their manuscripts.
