Oh, hello, ma'am! Actually, our neighbouring country's prince is the heir to my country's throne, and wants to annex my country, but we don't want him to, and, er, we've been telling everyone that our head of state, the Duchess Annagovia, has been in mourning for sixty years, which is why nobody has seen her for decades. That's not exactly true, and I don't think anyone is buying it anymore. We've been at war with Zlobenia for as long as I've been alive. Any suggestions?

Politics is rather like working with wool - to make something, you need a warp and a weft. I would advise getting in touch with the ladies of Zlobenia - even if their country's military prospects are somewhat better than yours they still might be sick of all the drawn-out fighting.
At least that's how it worked with the Spartans.
