Hallo.

Hello. M'name's Adrian Singleton, and . . . and I think I know some people here, but I don't know if they want to know me here, so I won't say who they are. Wouldn't want to cause trouble for them, you know. Friends of mine, always took good care of me, and . . . and I've needed a fair bit of taking care of, so that's something ( Read more... )

Ah, Adrian! *laughs* Same as always; how lovely to see an old friend. I am glad you are still here. I thought, With so many plans to leave the country, one of these times he will leave, and he will leave for good. And yet, here we are. It's delightful to see you again. *charming smile*

Would've left, but I didn't have the money for it.*waves listlessly* Good to see you, too. Been a while, hasn't it?

Oh, yes, quite a long while! I am happy that you decided to show up; Alan is constantly disagreeable, Harry is always off somewhere, Basil is so very conscientious. You, on the other hand, always knew when to let go. *smiles*

You do know, Adrian, that if you gave up smoking or drinking for even a week, you would actually have some money in your pocket.

Dunno. Been talking to Alan, just now. Seems all right. He's-- well, you know, Alan, 'f course, but still. Don't know 'bout Basil. Do I know Basil? 've forgotten him, if I do. And I don't think Harry likes me much.

I know, I know. 's hard, though. Alan's going to help, I think. At least, he was talking about locking up things-- the opium, I think, but I'm a little confused-- and he got me water and everything. So. Um. We'll see how it goes this time, eh?

Hullo, there. You might fancy staying with me and mine for a bit: we're good if you want to get steady again, and good if you're trying to get unsteadier.

Uh. Thank you. I think. I think that might be good. Maybe.

Which ones are yours? 've got to be careful, see, or I'll upset Dorian. I don't like when he's upset.

*laughs* I think it's good, but I really couldn't tell you, my dear sir.

We're the very noisy ones who sometimes go about kissing everyone, although I fear I can't engage particularly heedlessly in that activity, since I'm taken already. You can call us the Roaches.

Unless you mean my headmates. *grins* But you don't want to know them. They're eighteen kinds of too damn loud, and half of them are completely mad.

Well, it can't be worse. I hope.

Oh. *wibble* I don't think he likes them much.

Ow. Miss. Could you, um. Possibly . . . lower your voice? 've got the most dreadful headache. 'm sure a lovely girl like yourself would be sweet enough to do a kind thing like that, wouldn't you?

Hallo, Alan!

. . . 's you, right? I mean. I don't think 'm that far gone. But if I were, I prob'ly wouldn't know.

Been well, have you? Haven't talked to you for a while. Or. Um. You haven't talked to me, more like. 's all right. No one does. Got to protect your reputation, right? So you don't end up like me.

nitricnotes May 15 2005, 18:59:40 UTC
Yes, it is.

No, we have not talked. But there is so little of my reputation left to salvage, I am sure a conversation for old time's sake would do no harm to either of us. Besides which, I'm dead, so it does not matter any longer.

Dead?

. . . oh. Right. I remember that, now. My brother sent me the newspaper clipping about it. Said he wanted me to . . . um. Think 'bout where my friends'd gotten to, I think he said. Think he was actually hoping I'd follow your example, though. *laughs, a bit bitterly*

'S good to see you, you know. Even if you are a bit . . . blurry. Ouch. My head hurts.

Hello, miss. How d'you know Dorian.

Your name sounds familiar. Think I knew someone else who knew you. He was a . . . a sailor, I think. Um. I'm probably just mixed up. Sorry.

I loved him. I was engaged to him briefly, and I died for him. Which I suppose makes us pretty well acquainted.

A sailor? *eyes light up* A sailor named Vane? My brother was a sailor, he went to Australia - I never did see him again...

Oh. Funny, he never mentioned you. I don't think. Um. Strange. You're very pretty, and he always liked pretty things. Not that you're a thing, I mean, because obviously you're a girl. Nice one, too.

Could've been. Yeah. Vane. Jim Vane. Saw him around sometimes. Your brother, you say? Oh, miss, I'm sorry. I shouldn't've brought it up, not with where I saw him.
