*Distinct clopping noises precede Rocky's appearance* Hello all. My name's Phase-Shifter (Double-Sharped Lydian Trio) Rock'n'Roll, but I recommend you call me Rocky. Everyone who speaks to me in English does. I'd sing my name for you in my own language, but you wouldn't be able to hear ( Read more... )

*stares, and then screams and runs away*

Typist: Sorry about that. She doesn't do well with centuar-like creatures. Welcome to the community! :)

Oh dear. I hope that isn't a typical reaction.

Welcome. Cooking? Do you, perhaps, bake muffins?

(Typist: . . . psst, Rocky's typist. Do I know you?)

Muffins? Well, I've never made them before, but I think Chris Major had some old muffin pans at Tuxedo Junction; I've eaten them. I could give it a try, if you'd like!

(Typist: I made that icon for you! ...In other words, yes. ^.^)

*nods* Baking muffins is quite a hobby of mine. You should try it, they're wonderful to make.

(Typist: *glomp* HIYA! Ha, I thought it was you!)

This means, of course, that I'll have to get an oven. Hmm. *Taps a hoof thoughtfully*

*looks up* Hello, Rocky. I'm Emmeline Grangerford. I believe that we have several musicians here, if human music interests you. Welcome!

Thank you! In fact, human music does--all things human interest me, really, but music is a particular.

Why, hello. *smiles - she loves meeting those who appreciate her realm* Indeed, I can think of nothing to dislike about cooking. Unless, possibly, it's the clean-up, and even that has a comforting rhythm to it.

Tell me, dear, your name in your language. I assure you, I can hear it.

Well, I can think of something--people who do not appreciate cooking! They're not really an aspect of cooking itself, though, and more of a by-product, if you will.

Can you? Well then...*Takes a deep breath and sings a short, wordless phrase, stringing together a number a fluting notes in a flowing, up-and-down pattern* That's what they call me...

Welcome, Rocky English being the imprecise tongue that it is, I can find no adequate title for an androgyne. You certainly have the distinction of being one of the most colorful creatures to arrive here.

Well, thank you! And to think, I'm rather conservatively colored and patterned, compared to some of my fellows!

*cough* I was using the term 'colourful' in a metaphorical sense -- you are an extremely fanciful creature, at least by our standards.

Conservatively coloured and patterned? You mean your people are even more exuberantly marked than yourself? How awfully loud that must be.
