Paulinka is enjoying the evening, sitting out on the porch with a cigarette.

"You look lost," she remarks with a small smile. "Welcome to the Mansion."

"I am not lazy, nor am I useless!" she exclaims, taking a step backward. "Don't talk to me that way."

He scoffs, turning his head, expression etched with scorn. "Certainly not. I should not lower myself to speak with you at all." He turns away. "If you have nothing useful to say, I will excuse your words as womanish folly."

"Excuse me?" she says, stepping forward again. "I will not be brushed off like that."

"Your arrogance, being one of the female Edain, astounds me."

[cannotresist]

"My arrogance?! How about yours!"

[mostcraftiest]

The difference is that my arrogance is deserved! And yours isn't. But he doesn't quite say that, just turns a single, almost amused raised eyebrow upon her. "My arrogance, esteemed lady?" Do elaborate, his eyes mock her.

She seethes. "You--you are terrible!"

His eyebrows rise further. "If I did not know better I would say you were in danger of losing your temper," he says, mildly. Your temper can't compete with mine!

"Oh, but I am," she spits back, hands clenching.

He out and out laughs at her. "And what are you going to do about that, hmm?"

She inhales sharply. "Nothing, I suppose, but there are things I wish I could do."

[mostcraftiest]

He snorts, again, scornful, and turns, beginning to leave, perhaps. "Foolishness. You are not worth my time."

"And you are not worth mine," she says, sitting back down.

[mostcraftiest]

That pricks his Noldorin pride, and he turns, looking annoyed again. "I beg your pardon?"

"I said, you are not worth my time."
