In the early morning, a person coming down to put together their breakfast will find a young woman, teenaged, dressed for the turn of the nineteenth into the twentieth century, sitting quietly in a chair at the kitchen table.

She is pale and abstracted from lack of sleep, and there is something faintly peculiar about her features, especially around ( Read more... )

Elaine is in the habit of coming down early, to bring up breakfast for herself and her friends, and coffee while it lasted; Modred being too single-focused to look after himself, and Lynette, these days, too broken.

She hesitates a moment in the doorway, and then decides to risk it. "Good morning," she says quietly.

Emily turns, blinking slowly with the weight of being up all night. "Good morning," she says, and rises to her feet, standing tall and straight beside the chair. "I'm sorry for the intrusion; I was lost in the storm last night, and the house was the only shelter I could find."

"It's open to everyone, miss." Elaine pauses, while attention is on her; a neat waifish figure in trim slacks and sweater, her hair pinned back loosely.

Emily smiles, a slow, small smile. "Thank you," she says, and sits back down to her hot water. Best not to get in the way.

"I'm Emily Starr," she adds, because anyone would want to know the name of the strange person in thier kitchen.

Bast probably descends sometime in the middle of the night, and starts to see someone standing there. He almost hisses, tensing, eyes bright blue. "--good evening," he says, though, keeping his voice level.

Emily stays seated. "Good evening," she says, "I'm sorry to intrude, but there's the storm."

He nods, briefly. "It's not my house." Sorry he's short with you. "You're welcome to stay. Not that you have any other option."

"You're most gracious," Emily says, which is not at all what she is thinking.

Caliban comes out of the kitchen, at some late hour, and almost jumps, nearly spilling coffee all over himself. "Christ! - where'd you come from?"

"The storm, sir," Emily says, standing up, "I couldn't stay out, so I came in."

He winces. "Caliban. Please. And - God, don't worry about it, just wasn't expecting to see anyone up here now...?"

"Caliban," Emily says, nodding, "I'm only up because there wasn't anyone I could find to speak to."

Sebastian looks, as usual, vaguely mussed. He smiles, coming down the stairs, quite a pretty thing - and that's without the striking green eyes.

"Good morning," He says smoothly. "And welcome."

A pair of adorable little blond boys, identical and about 8 years old in appearance will be hanging around in the kitchen. One has a squirrel on a shoulder, the other, a bird. Both have pointy ears.

"Good morning."

Emily turns from the window and smiles when she sees them, a long, slow smile that takes a while to fully appear. "Good morning," she says, eyes bright and interested.

"Good morning!" The boys look happy, one of the small animal chirps a little. "Are you waiting for someone?"

"No," Emily says, "I'm waiting out the storm. I see you have friends," she says, and nods to the bird and the squirrel.
