There are now in the main room several streamers hanging from the ceiling for no apparent reason - though there is a birthday cake on the table. The cake, however, is quite harmless. It's the streamers you have to watch out for. Brush

Kvothe has taken to wandering the Mansion, the nearly destroyed hand hidden in his pocket. When he spots the odd decorations in the main room he goes in to look...and his shoulder brushes one of the streamers.

The little boy standing in the middle of the room is very confused, but also incredibly curious as he runs to look at the cake in the middle of the room.

A long, serious, studying pause. "What kind of magic would you recognize?"

Well, that's great.

A bit of a fidget, because even little Kvothe has that look down pat. "Scattered bits, only," quickly.

"But bits of what?" Kvothe has always been persistant.

Trying to think fast, it's really not working so well. "...some Sympathy."

He's a bit disappointed, though he wouldn't say so. "That's not really magic, though."

"No, I suppose it isn't."

Nervous shift. He'd tell the truth if he knew it wouldn't bother Kvothe, but he doesn't. So.

Bast. Does it bother him when he's normal? The nervous shifting is getting his attention and he's watching Bast more carefully, there is something odd about him...

Well no, but that's normal Kvothe!

Bast might start noticing Kvothe looking a little past him, staring at his shadow, then back at Bast, a thoughtful little frown on his face.

A slight shift. Well, great. "Something bothering you?" Mildly.

"No," he lies smoothly, taking his eyes away from the shadow. "How did you learn Sympathy?"

A mouth twitch, eyeing him. "I had a teacher. It's only a bit."

"Did you go to the University?" He's a little hopeful even if Bast is strange, he hopes that he can hear more about it.

A smile. "No, I don't think I would have been accepted, there."

"Why not?" He looks surprised.
