We're leaving, conspicuously discarded, a long, cylindrical thingummy with a number of levers and handles; something resembling the butt of a rifle at one end and a narrow hole in the other. Should the levers, notably the trigger-shaped one, be pulled, nothing much will happen -- unless it's being pointed at someone else. In which case that someone ( Read more... )

Phedre comes in, sees the gun, and the immediate thought in her mind is... well, to use it on herself. She's been very suicidal, lately.

She'll be lifting it her way, about to pull the trigger.

Locke is wandering downstairs, looking distracted and frowny and generally thoughtful. And then notices Phedre, what she's doing, and stops.

"What the fuck are you doing?"

He makes her start, and typist willing, what happens is a complete accident, in which she actually pulls the trigger... his way.

A jump. "What the-" Before in the same moment realizing that nothing happened and there's a sideways shift in his perceptions.

A blink of consternation. That's not disconcerting. At all.

Anita wanders in, and well, guns are her friends, so she'll pick it up, and she'll be examining it with interest, aiming at the empty doorway.

Locke comes in from outside, hands in his pockets, and his eyebrows shoot up, looking at the gun.

"What're you doing with that?"

"Toying with my new gun." She gives him a mischievous grin. "But I'm pretty sure it doesn't shoot bullets - I've been pulling the trigger, and nothing comes out. See?"

She shoots at Locke.

He almost jumps, but nothing seems to happen. For a moment.

Then it does. And he almost flinches because of it. "I'm what to you?"

Caliban notes the odd looking...contraption...and picks it up, turning it over in his hands and trying to figure out what the hell it is. Let alone what it's supposed to do.

"Found a new toy, kiddo?"

That's Robin, standing in the doorway.

He looks up, half grins, pretends to point it at Robin. "Yeah, don't know what the hell it is. It's not loaded."

Experimentally, he tugs one of the lever/trigger things. Since it isn't loaded.

......

"Damn."

The dose of self-loathing and fear is a lot to take in, espescially, or even for the puck.

Tyelko doesn't know what it is, certainly. But he's looking at it, with the one still functional hand, eyebrows slightly quirked.

Galadriel walks in, sees the Most Undesirable Cousin, and pauses in the doorway.

She's not sure she wants to talk to him, right now.

He looks up, and the gun follows. And there's a twitch that, because of typists, just happens to set off the trigger. Galadriels make Tyelkos flail.

She was just about to turn away when the POV ray hit her. She pauses, and turns to look at her cousin.

He's not the MUC, anymore.

He's someone she wants to give a hug to.

Again.

Except this time, it's not an inexplicable love for the world in general, it's just because she feels so, so, so sorry for him.

She just starts to cry.

If the gun had blades or spikes or strings, Melehan would think to take care. But guns mean nothing to him, and so he fiddles with open and perhaps careless curiosity.

His brother catches sight of him and hails him with a little cry. "Melehan!"

"Brother," he says in return, turning towards him as he experimentally pulls one of the levers.
