Oh hey another German!

Robert doesn't much care for Sunday Mass. It's boring and his knees always hurt afterwards from all the kneeling, but his parents always insist that's good for him so Robert goes willingly. His parents can't be wrong can they?

Anyway, he is on  his knees, praying like a good boy and when he opens his again he is shocked to find entirely different

Otto, for his part, is pleased to see another boy from school. Maybe he'll finally have someone to be his big pimpin' partner in crime!

"Well, hello there Robert."

[ottowho]

"Yes! A real live baby! She even let me hold it. It's a very nice baby, I suppose..."

Otto stops. "Married? No, she isn't married. But she's supposed to be, sometime soon."

[randomgermanboy]

"Oh," Robert says, rather confused, "I didn't know that you could have a baby without first being married."

Robert is a bit clueless.

He shrugs. "I don't know. I suppose you don't, if they have one. Because their wedding hasn't happened yet. As far as I know."

"Who's the... father?" Robert asks curiously. He wonders what it is exactly that happens when you become a father. If you didn't have to be married...

[ottowho]

"Melchior Gabor."

Otto doesn't know any of the other details, but be sure that if he did, he would tell them.

"Melchior Gabor," Robert says in slight disbelief. "It would be him, wouldn't it?"

[ottowho]

Otto sighs. "It would be, lucky son of a--" He shakes his head.

"Wendla Bergmann. Of all the girls, he got Wendla Bergmann. I wouldn't mind being in his shoes, that's for certain."

Well, except for the whole having a kid thing.

"Yeah..." Robert says, though he still terribly curious about the entire thing. "Wendla is a pretty girl."

[ottowho]

"Quite. So, I suppose it's predictable that she'd end up with Gabor, but... there's something even stranger than that. Ilse... lovely, lovely Ilse, is with MORITZ STIEFEL. Can you imagine? It's disgraceful."

[randomgermanboy]

"Moritz" Robert asks, incredulously. Moritz is not exactly his favorite person. It was Moritz that had the eye of Martha Bessel and not him. "And Ilse?!"
