*A young woman enters the Mansion looking, as most new arrivals do, rather confused. She's pretty, though her clothing does nothing to highlight that fact, her brown hair tucked out of sight, her dress, though as extravagant in style as that of any other aristocratic woman of 1780's France, not cut in a way that accentuates or even really reveals

"The mansion," Pansy drawls, yawning lazily from her position on the couch, flipping through a book but not really reading.

[madame_tourvel]

*Madame de Tourvel turns in the direction of Pansy's voice and, gathering layers of heavy skirts in her hands, goes to the couch. Her voice is steady, but holds a hint of panic* I'm sorry, but that's not terribly specific.

"It's rather difficult to be specific," Pansy replies, rolling her eyes. "It is what it is. The Mansion. Welcome." She gives a sarcastic little flourish of the hand.

*No one in Madame de Tourvel's world is quite that openly sarcastic. Not even Valmont.* But whose Mansion? And surely it cannot be that difficult.

"I would be most willing, good lady, had I the knowledge myself. Are you unharmed, at the very least?"

[madame_tourvel]

*Oh, a polite person! How nice, even if his clothing doesn't make any sense to her* Thank you, but why is that you don't know? I don't quite understand. *pause* Yes, I think so.

"Well, that is something. I do not know, because I've not found anyone able to tell me."

[madame_tourvel]

...oh. How long have you been here? *she imagines that he must have arrived recently, and in about the way she did. Truly, she isn't sure what that is, but suspects Valmont might have something to do with it.*

Gaheris starts, and looks guilty and embarrassed. "Don't know," gruffly, looking down.

[madame_tourvel]

*She doesn't understand why Gaheris might be embarassed by her question, but there's nothing cruel in his statement, despite its gruffness* I'm sorry - did I do something to offend you?

Ack! "No--no. Sorry. Nothing like that. You all right?"

Oh...it's quite all right, then. And I'm all right. I think. I'm rather confused. *Gaheris' disjointed speech is wearing off on her, a bit*
