You know what you need? A crackplot.

After several weeks of reading and studying, Childermass is ready to try something. He made a small model of Lynette's spaceship, and took it out to the gardens. There, he attempted to enchant it to send it through time, as well as space ( Read more... )

Fred Inglor is a visiting artist in the studio arts program at a small local college, teaching a special course on stoneworking. He's just come from his studio, beat-up t-shirt and jeans covering in paint stains, ground in plaster and stone dust, all the detritus of working in a sculpture studio. He has no idea that he's supposed to be an elf.

((I've always wanted to use this picture for /something/))

With an actress for a sister and no knack for academia, what would her younger brother do for a living? Well, don't ask. Just don't ask. There isn't a mean bone in his body, but he's very interested in people. And money really isn't the issue. He speaks five languages fluently, though. That's something anyway.

"You look all worn out." Armand gives Fred a goofy grin.

"I am, a bit," he says with a flash of a returning grin. "I've been in the studio all day." He also taught a class this morning, it can be wearing at times. "You don't, though. Having a good day?" He assumes from the goofy grin.

Arabella Woodhope-Strange is in the kitchen. Not really sure how she got there, she immediately dumps the pot of tea in front of her down the sink and sets to making some coffee.

The typist is still looking for an appropriate icon, but could wait no longer to reply.

So have a Richard Carstone, a bit rumpled as usual in khakis and a shirt. He's sort of a university student, if that title didn't imply he ever went to class, but he writes fairly well, so he gets by. He's trying to finish a novel...but never quite manages.

"That coffee smells divine," he observes, coming in.

"Grab a cup," she says. "I'd like to think I couldn't manage a whole pot."

"Clearly you haven't written any papers recently," he grins. "Thanks." And goes to fetch a mug.

Kathleen is bored. This is a weird place, certainly, but that doesn't make it interesting.

"Anyone got a smoke?" She asks to the crowd at large.

"Maybe. You got a drink?" Margot pushes her hands through her hair, harassed.

Aha! It is a Mother. Clare shadows.

Oooops. She knows that shadow. "Hey, you," she says, much more gently. "You get bored with painting?"

Larry is lean, athletic, charismatic, in the prime of his life... and hopelessly wasting his time on an older woman, but he doesn't know that. Or rather, doesn't know it's a waste of time. Not really.

He's just whistling as he sections an orange in the kitchen, throwing the knife a bit to show off, if only to himself.

"Nice hat," she observes caustically from the doorway.

Melisande looks basically the same - except that her sumptuous dress is exchanged for a crisply tailored suit - with pants, of course, and despite a moment of confusion, all she can remember now is being an executive of some large company, and she's extremely frustrated by the lack of efficient work that is being done.

"You shouldn't look so grim," Armand offers.

She gives him a sideways look and rolls her eyes. "Please! Nothing is getting done, for God's sake. Why shouldn't I look a little grim?" She sighs, impatiently, and flops dramatically into a chair.

"You're acting as if making money were all that important." He sits nearby, resting his elbows on his knees. "There's more to life than that, you know, ma'am."
