Elphaba is sitting with her youngest daughter in her lap. And her daughter is trying to sleep. So she looks at Shell with annoyance. "Do you mind? Either breathe somewhere else, or take the volume down several decibels."

"Perhaps not. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm alive now, does it?"

He looks at her skeptically. Despite himself, he's caught a hint of paranoia that one of his cabinet is going to poison him in his sleep or something.

"How?"

"What's it to you?"

"My dead sister is asking me what it is to me that she's not dead." He rolls his eyes. "Next thing I know, you'll be telling me Nessarose is here, too."

"Oh, she is. Somewhere." She eyes him. "It's not as if you saw me all the time when I was alive, before."

He throws his hands up in the air a bit at the mention of Nessa being there, then folds his arms again.

"We all had our own agendas that took us our different ways. The way I see it Elphie, our family can't do closeness. We'd kill each other within days."

She ignores everything he says to focus on one thing. "Why are you calling me that?"

"Why wouldn't I call you that?" For all his smarts and cunning, he truly looks perplexed that she'd ask.

"Have you always called me that?" It's been so long, she can hardly remember.

"When I was younger. It's what Nessa called you, so I did too." And this is all he'll say on the matter. He adjusts the silk scarf at his neck and makes sure it's tucked neatly into his waistcoat. "Who's that?" He nods towards Bit.

She'll accept that. And watch as he adjusts his finery with some distaste. "This is my daughter, Elizabeth. Bit."

"Daughter? So you're alive with all the perks then." He looks at her impassively, the perk he's referring to obviously being something a little different than children.

She simply raises an eyebrow at him. And if he cares to notice, she is wearing a wedding ring. It's relatively simple, and silver, obviously chosen with great care by someone who wanted to make sure that not only would she love it, it wouldn't clash with her in any way.

He raises an eyebrow back. The silver ring has caught his eye, but he has no concern for such matters and bites back his curiosity.

"So I'm not dead, and you're alive. Now what?"

"Now you attempt to not be a nuisance to those here."
