Zjendjan has been dead for over a month. He is back now, alive and shaken. So shaken that he hasn't attempted to find anyone he knows. He just sits in an out of the way corner somewhere outside, clothes and face smudged with dirt, a rosary in his hands. He prays as fast as he can, not letting up for one moment ( Read more... )

Because the typist is not quite cruel enough to throw Cimorene at him immediately, Richard is coming back from the woods, himself a bit shaken by thoughts of his own deaths, past and future. But the thoughts quite evaporate as he sees the young man several years his junior praying frantically. "Sir, are you hurt?" Richard looks him over for blood, trying to see for himself.

Zjendjan's head whips up and he tries to scoot away from Richard. "Go away! Please, don't get too close."

"It's alright, I won't hurt you. Are you injured?"

Zjendjan laughs a bit and tries to curl in on himself. "I'm not injured. I'm dead."

Dorian saw Zjendjan and faintly remembered him as his wedding present to himself so long ago. He peered curiously over the young man's shoulder at the rosary, "But does it actually do anything, I wonder?"

Zjendjan moved away from him. "It had better."

He looked down at his hands, still running the rosary through his fingers. "That I don't hurt anyone."

If he had gone back to the Mansion, she might never have seen him, as she's quickly learning to avoid the place. But out of doors, she'll cross his path on one of her several walks. She actually drops her basket when she sees him, shaken. She doesn't really need another person she cares about gone mad.

He stays where he is, crouched under a tree and not showing any sign of having noticed her.

After a moment, her voice comes back, and she says "Zjendjan?"

He raises his head to look at her, lips quirking into a small, quick smile before looking back down at his feet.

((Arrgh, too late, sorry :())
Beatrice sees him and jumps. "Oh, it's you!" She's not sure what to say next. She still feels guilty for intruding on his death, and it's not as if they've even met, really. "Sorry, you don't know me, but I saw you... before. Glad to see you've recovered."
