Darcy is not very fond of balls or dancing in general, but a certain name on the invitation--thankfully still unmarried--ensures that he won't miss the event. Taking the time to dress appropriately--though he's not happy about this, either--he arrives (unfashionably) late and looks most remarkably uncomfortable.

Late as Darcy is, by the time has arrived, Elizabeth has largely given up on the duty of introductions and greetings, and is standing near the door, chatting energetically with a few of the guests. Her eye caught by this late arrival, she excuses herself (after a moment) to the group and makes her way to him.

"Mr Darcy! I did not think you would come. It is hardly your sort of event, after all."

"Perhaps not," Darcy admitted. "But Georgiana is constantly scolding me for not attending more social gatherings, and I'm sure she would be very pleased to learn I am attending this one of my own free will."

"And did Miss Darcy come with you?" she asks hopefully. "I have not seen her for far too long."

*under normal circumstances, Regan might hunt down Lascelles, but that must wait until he's alive again (to say nothing of the Orkneys having their turn)--so here she is, not yet alive, watching and maybe dancing by herself a little*

*is a ghost and quite a bit insubstantial, but does like dancing*

He didn't see the notice, but was attracted by all the happy people, and not being one to be shy when he does not know anyone, will bow instead to Regan and offer his hand. "Will you dance, Lady?"

*not the sort to give a little "oh", but just looks at him - did not realize he could see her* Ay, I will. *her hand might go through his, if he tries to take it*

Ah, but that is the good thing about being a God! Corporeal status is no large matter. He grasps her hand and directs her to the floor where other couples are already dancing.
