"I'm afraid I do not know of your land or your king, sir," Ada ways worriedly. She bobs into a timid curtsey. "But I am sure someone shall!"

Rupert stares at her for a moment in complete disbelief before responding. "You mean to tell me this is not Ruritania?"

It is possible, to his mind, that he crossed unknowing the border into Germany, though he was quite certain that he rode in the opposite direction. And he had yet to hear of even the maddest of fools in Germany who hadn't heard of Ruritania. What would be next--declaring England as an imaginary country? France as fallacy?

"No, sir," she replies, blushing under the stare.

"Nor do you know of Ruritania." Rupert sighed and bowed, determined to make the best of it. "Forgive me my manners, fair maiden." He takes her hand and raises it to his lips, favoring her with a dashing smile that has only rarely failed him. "I am Rupert of Hentzau, a gentleman from that very country. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to my current whereabouts?"

"Has anyone ever told you that you look an awful lot like the chappie from the pictures?"

"Oh, so you've heard of me?" Rupert smiles and bows, striking a pose. "Rupert of Hentzau."

"I saw that one! You were wonderful in it." Bertie's a pretty big movie buff.

[ruperthentzau]

Well, at least the pictures in question aren't wanted posters.

"Was I? An admirer!" Rupert grins. "What pictures, exactly, are these?"

"Bonjour, monsieur... I am afraid I know not of these people or places," Denis says sweetly, but looking a little confused.

[ruperthentzau]

"So I've been told." Rupert looks him over with raised eyebrow. This level of effeminacy is unusual in Ruritania, and it makes him wonder as to Denis' employ. "May I know where I am and who it is I am addressing?"

"This is the Mansion, monsieur, and I am Denis." He gives him a pretty smile.

[ruperthentzau]

"Helpful. Of what employ are you?"

Armand is sitting on the porch, puzzling over things, when the man rides up. He follows him inside. "I'm afraid I don't know anything of Ruritania. You aren't there anymore."

[ruperthentzau]

"How terribly helpful of you." Rupert frowns at him. "Where am I?"

Leanng against the doorframe, Armand shrugs. "It's called the Mansion."

[ruperthentzau]

"How elucidating. Of what employ are you, my good knave, to speak so curtly? It is clear you are not a gentleman."

A horse? She hasn't seen a horse since the tape, and never before that. Everything else put aside, put aside for the Lynet in her Lynette, she goes quietly to the horse and touches it with her blackened, dirty hands.

Rupert's lip curls slightly at the filthy hands, but he suppresses it, turning back to see what she intends. "My horse."

"She's beautiful, ser," she murmurs, stroking the nose.

"He," Rupert corrects, sharply. Rupert wouldn't be caught dead riding a mare. Not that he's sexist or anything.
