In Which A Wizard Loses Control

Jun 12, 2007 22:11

Sasha has been thinking lately about how this place would make a good farm, what with all the room and the good pasture and the abundant outbuildings that only need a little repair, really. All it needs is animals. He’s been trying not to think about this, what with the unpredictable consequences of wishing for things, wanting them, but last night ( Read more... )

Luther has already found a goat and is herding it, with several of its fellows, out of the gardens and onto the lawn, with scattered hup!s and armflails for encouragement.

Sasha looks up and waves, with a very wobbly smile.

Luther waves back, and a moment later comes over to the porch and leans his arms at Sasha's feet.

"Hello, sir," Sasha says shyly.

Here's a wolfy Firekeeper, trotting out of the woods and holding an escaped hen she found and has been snacking on. When she sees someone sitting in the open, she promptly stops and sits down to examine him, wondering if she should run. The Asian water buffalo smell nice, if a bit strange, but she's not stupid enough to try to go for them.

...

....Sasha looks nervously back at the wolf eyeing him, and proceeds to make no sudden movements. At all.

Firekeeper can smell his nervousness and lets her tongue loll out in amusement. Of course, that also shows off her impressive set of teeth. Deciding that if the human has enough sense to hold still, he probably won't attack her, so she moves a little closer and inhales his scent curiously.

Sasha just watches her. Of course, if she's got a chicken, she's probably not starving enough to consider him as food, and he does know that, but you can never be too sure of wolves near human settlements - they tend to get turned around.

...And besides, he might have accidentally wished her here, although he doesn't think he did.

Ahem. Someone may go past Sasha at just this minute with multiple chickens in hand, held by their feet and gleefully collected.

"Are they your chickens?" Sasha asks, seeing a faint glimmer of hope.

Percy attempts to look innocent. "Um. Well. They didn't look real comfortable in the closet, so, um."

"Oh," Sasha says, and smiles - it's a wobbly smile, but it's a smile, darnit.

"That's good then. I'm sure they'll like you. Once, you know, they're rightside up again."

Zjendjan never did like animals that much, despite the fact that he lived on a farm. So now he is yelling at a goat in Ruthenian and trying to get it to give him back his sleeve. The typist isn't sure exactly when Sasha is from but Zjen's style of dress and language should seem a little familiar.

"Yelling doesn't help!" Sasha calls across the yard, "Goats are contrary."

"I know!" He's still speaking in his own language. "I thought I'd left them all at home!"

"Maybe they followed you?" Hope. So much hope.

Spade apparently came out on to the porch to escape the animals, as his response on seeing the cows is "...well, perfect."

Sasha twists about to look at him, then nods and sighs. "I hope the irises weren't anyone's particularly."

"Not mine, anyway. Though the chickens in the closet did a number on most of my spare clothes." He tilts back his fedora with a thumb. "You know where the things came from?"

Sasha flushes. "I'm sorry," he says shyly, "I think it's my fault."
