Terisa left the library, meaning to get a glass of water from the kitchen. When she crossed into the main room, suddenly she felt confident and boyant. She looked around for someone to talk to. It was such a shame she knew so few people already.

Melisande smiles genially at the first woman to walk through the door, noting the transformation with an inward smile. "Well, hello," she says pleasantly, "Who are you again? I'm afraid I can't recall your name."

With a smile, Terisa stepped toward Melisande. "I'm Terisa Morgan. I don't think we met already. Did we?"

Bel Thorne wandered down the stairs, whistling happily. It was feeling magnificent this spring. Even that it had to endure a spring on a planet was fine with it.

Then it crossed into the main room.

It frowned. Why was it so dark in here? And it felt so heavy. So closed in. Bel stopped in its tracks, too terrified to take another step.

Neurotic?

O'Leary Montagu was the epitome of the obsessive neurotic.

O'Leary, tall, gangly, typically clumsy O'Leary, came through the door, stood straight, probably straighter than was ever typical for anyone to see him stand, furrowed his brows.

My God, something's happened, O'leary said. Only O'Leary was not there.
