A little scared.

She enters on quiet feet, her white gown in the Grecian style brushing the floor. She looks around herself with wide eyes, her mouth a little 'o' of surprise, her arms wrapped around herself. Cassandra looks around herself nervously and backs up against a wall so that she can watch on all sides, hoping dearly that no one will be able to sneak up on ( Read more... )

*stops suddenly, and stares at her* Cassandra of Troy. I thought I killed you.

Cassandra leaps to her feet, backing up, her eyes going wider with terror. "Clytemnestra," she breathes, her hand going to the wall to steady herself. Nonetheless, she sways. Her eyes slide past Clytemnestra to the wall, looking at the door, wondering if she can reach it before Agamemnon's wife. She wonders, suddenly, if he is here, and trembles with fear, shaking like a leaf in a high wind. "I-I don't know, I just - I - you did," she says at last. "You did kill me." There is a note of wonder in her voice. "And here I am. And you, you're here..." She falls to her knees and presses her forehead to the floor. "Please, Clytemnestra. Don't hurt me." Her voice breaks, and she sounds on the point of tears. "Your...Agamemnon...is he here?" Please, please don't let him be here, Apollo, Artemis, whoever is listening, please...

*Clytemnestra feels a bit of pity for Cassandra, though only a bit - she killed her first not neccesarily out of hatred, but out of neccesity (she could have easily been bearing another child of Agamemnon's, which would have caused a great deal of trouble, and she saw the murder, so who knows what the girl would have shrieked wildly to everyone else, stirring them into a frenzy?) and almost to put the mad thing out of her misery* Get up, girl, I don't hate you enough to kill you twice.

*if her voice wasn't angry before, it is now* He is not, though, if he was, be assured that I would kill him a second time.

Cassandra breathes a deep sigh of relief. "Thank you, my lady," she says, rising slowly and keeping her eyes on Clytemnestra. No matter what she says, the woman did kill her. "You are merciful." She keeps her eyes lowered, unable to shake herself out of the role of being Agamemnon's concubine, and hence lower. She was a Princess of Troy, once, but Troy is long since burned to dust. She takes a deep, shuddering breath and looks up, slowly, not meeting Clytemnestra's eyes. "I am glad," she says softly. "I - I am glad."

*another young woman who has grown used to that sort of paranoia after enduring torture and imprisonment approaches, moving silently, but not so that she startles Cassandra, but rather so that she does not startle her* What are you afraid of?

Cassandra looks up at the kind voice and her eyes widen just a little, taking in the woman's outlandish appearance. She stands, unsure how to greet her. "Nothing," she says quickly, then pauses. "Or everything. I don't know. I - I don't know. Please...who are you?" Her voice trembles just a little, and she fights to keep it, and herself, steady.

That's all right. I feel that way sometimes myself. I'm La Esmeralda - I'm a dancer. This, *she indicates the goat trailing at her heels, who Esmeralda may not have noticed yet* is Djali. And who are you?

Cassandra looks at the goat - Djali - and can't help a helpless little laugh. "Greetings," she says. "La Esmeralda? I have never heard a name like that before. Where are you from?" Safe questions. Easy questions. She takes a deep breath and licks her lips, once, before responding, her voice still trembling a little. "I'm Cassandra of Troy. I'm sorry, I'm just a bit off balance right now. I wasn't expecting - this is a little bit of a shock, is all."

*gently - she's seen all too many things that would warrant that sort of fear, either here or elsewhere - she asks* Are you all right?

Cassandra jumps up from her seat to stare, wide eyed, at the newcomer. Her voice is soft and soothing, but nonetheless she watches her every movement warily. "Ah, I'm..." she hesitates, unsure how much to say. "I'm...terrified, actually," she says, with a weak little smile. "Where am I? How have I come here? I'm - I was sure I was -" She stops and looks down. Dead, the word hovers in her mind, I was dead.

*still gently, because this girl has obviously been very, very upset by something* No one really knows what this place is, but there's no need to be afraid of it - it's perfectly lovely, much of the time. And everyone seems to have arrived her accidentally, when they were originally somewhere else - it's the way I arrived.

"Oh," she says softly. "Oh. Well. I'm sorry, I should introduce myself. I'm Cassandra. Of Troy. It does seem...lovely. Yes. Lovely. It reminds me a little of..." Home. She shivers and doesn't finish the sentence. "I...came here quite suddenly. It was a bit of a surprise." She attempts another shaky smile. "Might I ask who you are, lady?"

Cassandra's eyes widen a little bit as she stands and bobs a wobbly curtsy, her legs a little unsteady. "Hello?" she says hesitantly, unsure what to make of this. She thinks she recognizes the woman, but isn't quite sure. There is something just a bit off about her, something that Cassandra associates with...immortals. "Eris," she breathes, and drops another curtsy, this one lower and even more unsteady. "W-what do you want of me? Where am I?"

You're in the Mansion. *airily* Welcome to the madness!

Cassandra blinks, once, twice. "The Mansion? Madness?" She looks around, puzzled. "What do you mean? I-I don't understand. Why am I here? I thought I was..." She doesn't finish. "Why am I here?" she asks again, weakly.

*in something closely approximating a stage whisper* Are you going to surprise someone?

Cassandra lets out a little shriek and jumps to her feet, whirling around. She notes the crown and nothing else before she drops into a quick curtsy, backing up two steps. "N-no," she says hesitantly. "Milady, no, I was - no." Her heart thrums wildly, but the Queen seems harmless. Of course, Helen seemed harmless, too." Her eyes flick to the exit, wondering how fast the lady can run.

*totally oblvious to her distress* Why are you yelling like that? Did a rocking-horse-fly land on you? *confidingly* I'm afraid of rocking-horse-flies, you know. But, oh, look, you're curtsying! How nice! The Red Queen would be so happy with you!

Cassandra blinks, somewhat disconcerted. "Rocking-horse flies? The Red Queen?" She frowns, confusion etching her features. "Milady, who are you? And where am I?" It's hard to stay afraid when you are as confused as Cassandra currently is, and she is relaxing a little.
