Keeping his aplomb...

Saeten glances around the entry hall of the Mansion, reigning in his curiosity as well as irritation. A quick psychic sweep lets him know that this place is populated, by... landens, mostly it seems, and others of indeterminate power. Unfortunately for him, the feel of the place is unfamiliar. Calling in the Red unobtrusively, the rather handsome ( Read more... )

Gideon has a clipboard in his hand, and a quill, which is writing to a muttered dictation as he's trying to work out how to survey the community on crime and punishment. He notices Saetan only in time not to bump into him. The quill clatters to the ground.

"Oh." Gideon smiles with an apologetic shrug. "I didn't see you, sir." Then he sticks out his free hand. "Gideon Prewett, professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Are you a new resident here?"

((And get a Sam-pup in greeting. Gid apparently doesn't care about keeping secrets!))

Saetan accepts the handshake courteously enough, testing his strength against the strange man and coming up more bemused than anything.

"It is a pleasure, Gideon Prewett. I am S. D. SaDiablo." He appraises the other man again. Not someone who knows ranks of Protocol, then. "My title is High Lord." He smiles, using Craft to lift the quill from the floor to his hand to present it to the other man.

"I'm not entirely sure if I am a new resident. I've yet to find locate my daughter. Though, there is a possibility. Is this... Hogwarts, then?" Witch Craft. That sounded promising.

High Lord? High Lord of what? Gideon didn't ask. Titles just confused things. It's easier to answer some questions than others. "Not exactly. This is the Mansion, but Hogwarts is where I work."

"Your daughter? Who would that be?"

"Ah. The Mansion." Saetan comments, nodding, and taking another look at his surroundings. "I see. And you work at a school where they teach witches their Craft. An honorable profession."

"And my daughter? Janelle. You wouldn't have seen anyone by that name here, would you?"

Because throwing Nancy the non-magic believer at various people is just too much fun.

She is sitting somewhere reading a magazine and chewing some gum, but she looks up politely when he enters. "Hi."

Saetan focuses on her for a moment. Landen. Interesting.

"Hello." He pauses for a bit longer, then leans over her chair to peer at her reading material. "What are you reading?"

She blows a bubble and pops it loudly. "Screen Romances." She holds it up to show a picture of a swooning 1930s actress gazing deeply into the eyes of a chiseled 1930s actor.

Looks like something Janelle would read, if she had the faintest idea of what a Screen was.

He flicks his fingers, calling in his half-moon reading glasses to settle on his nose and allow him to read any captions.

"She looks like she's pleased with him."

With a wry grin, she arrives. "About time you got here."

"Surreal." He greets her with a smile, a mild look, and a quirked eyebrow. "If it's about time I got here, does that mean I'm late?"

And the more pressing question: "Are you the only one here?"

"Oh, most definately. We've all been here for ages." She looks thoughtful for a moment, adding up the people who are here. "Jaenelle's here, and where Jaenelle is, Daemon will follow, Lucivar and Marian, Rainier, as well as Ladvarian and Kaelas."

Ty: Not mentioning Karla, since apparantly she's being replaced..

"Ages? Then I've been remiss. Or someone was to not inform me that I was required. Though with Daemon, Lucivar and Kaelas..." He gives Surreal an amused look, "And you. I can see why I wasn't needed." Doesn't mean he's happy about being 'left behind' so to speak.

"Is Janelle ruling here?"

Linden remembers him as a member of Jaenelle's court, and one with whom he's spoken in the past. He bows, courtly. "Good afternoon, sir."

"Afternoon." Saeten returns the courtesies with a dip of his head. He does notice the flicker of recognition, though. "I'm sorry, but... do I know you?"

"Ah." He takes another look at the man in front of him and reevaluates him. "I'm sorry that I didn't recognize you, it seems that this place has some... unique properties. I've only just arrived."

Here's one of his sons, then, pausing and blinking a bit. He's still not entirely comfortable with Saetan, but he does give a greeting, courtesy if wary. "Saetan."

Typist: Not sure if you knew this, but Daemon's taken from the beginning of Queen of the Darkness, so he's mostly sane and doesn't have all his memories back yet. ^^

"Namesake." Saetan greets his son, pleased to see him, if not entirely pleased by the slight fragility he scents. This is one to be wary of, to say the least. "You've been... taking care of yourself?"

Typist: OoOo. Naw, didn't know that. ^_^ Thankies.

One should generally be wary of Daemon, though. "I have." He smiles a bit, it's brief, but still a smile. "I've also been watching Daemonar. I don't know how Marian and Yasi do it."

"Good."

At least he seems whole, here. Strange that he would seem different than he remembered.

"And Daemonar reminds me of Lucivar when he was young. You and he were quite the pair."

Saetan gestured to a pair of chairs.
"What have you been up to, here? More importantly, have you been taking care of Janelle?"
