Though he hadn't had much luck with random manhunts through the mansion before, Spade was determined that, this time, he would find the man he was looking for. Prince Paul Maraloffski couldn't have gotten far, and if what Vera had said to him was true, he should be able to clear a few things up. And if not...well, that would be part of an answer ( Read more... )

Percy is a person who's strong--taller than most people from his time period, gangly, with farmer's muscles in his back and arms. He smiles at Sam in passing, waves; he's always friendly.

Spade considers a moment. Percy's fitting his physical description, but he would hesitate, normally, to wipe the smile off his boyish face. Still, beggars can't be choosers, and Spade says, "Hey there. Can I steal a moment?"

Jackrabbit was holding a fussy baby Mo Chroi, looking somewhat distraught himself.

"Hello, Sam Spade," he said, trying to calm the whimpering baby.

"Hey, 'Rabbit. Kid." He frowned a bit. "What's going on?"

Jackrabbit sniffed a bit. "Nothing. Mo Chroi is bottomed," he said. "Won't eat."

Spade didn't know much about babies, so he just applied his general psychological intuition. "Sorry. Something upset him?"

Livia smiled a bit when she caught sight of Sam.

"Working?"

He gave her a small smile in return. "You could say that. This place needs a directory or something."

"Man called Paul Maraloffski. Or Kate Morgan, but I at least know what she looks like." He shakes his head. "Hell to do interviews when people don't want to be found and I don't have a way to track them."

Kate has been in the library, working on an investigation of her own. She isn't sure if she'll ever make it back home, but at this point she's curious enough to keep working even if Cidro will never see the results. Looking pleased with herself, she emerges to fetch a cup of tea, pausing when she sees Sam. "Oh. Hey, there. Found anything new out?"

"Ah. Miss Morgan." He nods. "Yes, some. I was actually wondering if I could talk to you."

He pulls out a small notepad and a pencil. "Could you describe, in detail, the series of events leading up to your discovery of the victims?"

Prince Paul is sitting on a picnic table outside, taking apart the new gun he got from War and meticulously cleaning it, going over every part in detail. You can talk with him, but keep in mind that he's very dangerous--as if Sam didn't know that already.

Spade approaches, not confrontationally, but not flippant either. He knows better than to piss off a man cleaning a gun, no matter who he is.

"Hey. Can I have a word?"

"Depends on who you are."

"The name's Spade." He indicated Paul's gun with a motion of his head, making no other move to sit down or invade Paul's space. "Nice heat."
