Daniel does double take and the look that follows isn't a happy one.

"Armand, what the hell is going on? Is this some goddamn joke? Jesus Christ, I can't get away from you can I?"

"It is no joke." His look is almost uncertain, brow furrowed just slightly. "You are-- mortal, still." It's phrased like a question, though the answer is obvious.

That? Is a little too much for Daniel. After all, that was why he'd left Night Island yet again.

"You're damn right I'm still a mortal, and you never let me forget it. You who will never die watching me night after night come closer and closer still to death!"

"Bonjour, monsieur... Are you lost?"

Daniel has, of course, heard about Denis from Louis' account but does not recognize him.

"Yeah, I was on my way to Chicago and I don't know how but I ended up here. Wherever 'here' is."

"This is the Mansion, monsieur. Everyone comes here. From different places and times."

"You mean like an airport, where people are flying in from different countries and timezones?"

Daniel stops - then stares.

"You. What are you doing here?"

*with a brief shrug* Existing, the same as you. This is a --unique place.

He really should be used to it by now. The vampire's friends always made Armand St. Just twitch a little. Who wouldn't when they heard their own name being said aloud? He stood hastily and bowed. "Welcome, monsieur. I hope your friends can get you sorted out. You look in need of assistance."

"If you could tell me where the hell I am, that'd be a great place to start..."

"It's called the Mansion, and it's hard to say where it is since nobody really knows. I'm Armand St. Just."

Lestat half-smirks and shakes his head. "Just when you think that's it, they pop up like daisies. Bonsoir."

And at this point? All Daniel can do is stare like a drunken idiot -- which he is, so it isn't terribly unusual a reaction.
