Tiresias Hades is not a particularly familiar face about this community, although anyone who has been here for some time might recognize him and anyone familiar with his rather infamous brood might at least notice some form of familial resemblance. Since his return from the dead and subsequent arrival in the community, he has made no real effort ( Read more... )

*eyebrow* Mode of death, a well-aimed curse due to one of far too many reasons. Eulogy? 'The git's finally dead, let's have a party.'

*actually has to look up and chuckle at that* That, my friend, is quite possibly the best self-proclaimed eulogy I have ever heard. Or at least the most honest.

I'm hardly overly sentimental, and certainly harbor no illusions that I'll be mourned.

I can see that. You're some ways ahead of most people in that respect.

Astor pauses, her small body held rigid. "I don't want to die," she whispers, as though just the thought of it had made an attempt on her life.

Cody, who has ignored the request or who possibly just doesn't care, shuffles up to Sophocles and reaches out a hand. "Hi," he says softly.

Tiresias looks up at the sound of young voices. Simply not wanting to die is a far more typical response than what he used to get from his own children. "You don't have to and you won't," he says. Not any time soon, at least, and most definitely not by his hand, but he leaves that part unsaid.

Sophocles, much like his master, perks at the sound of voices younger than what he is used to hearing. His head rises and turns, following his nose to sniff warily at the offered hand. When he finds no immediate danger, he simply huffs a sigh and flops his head down again.

Astor almost smiles-- she's the more likely of the two for that, though actual smiles are still rare. "Okay," she says. She looks at the gun in his hands, though surprisingly she's not alarmed. She's seen guns before. "Are you the police?"

Cody reaches to pat Sophocles on the head. He's as gentle as a five year old ever is with a dog.

There is a blink and then a chuckle as Tiresias shakes his head. "No. I'm a marksman but not for the police. Simply a hobby." He spares a glance towards Cody and the Sophocles here, mostly to be sure that the dog is taking well to the child. Sophocles just stays where he is, content to be lazy for once and remain at Cody's mercy.

"I believe the general consensus is that I will die alone and unloved." Mr. Darcy doesn't crack a smile, not particularly amused, but at least interested by the question. "Perhaps a riding accident. That or murder. I suppose I'll be remembered fondly enough by my friends. They shall write on my tombstone--Mr. Fitzwiliam Darcy, antisocial elitist, disliked by many, beloved brother and friend. Will that do?"

Tiresias chuckles with a nod. "That will do nicely. A rather unique epitaph."

"If I was to die, my mems would stay up all night, have a party, cry and laugh and celebrate my life and giving back. Much would be said! Too much for me to sum up just now."

"Ah. Someone with a relatively optimistic view. I must say I've always been more fond of celebration than mourning."

"Is our way, in Mattapoisett. To give back is sad times, but necessary."

"It's a good way. It's unfortunate that more people don't consider it."

"I want to die in my bed of old age. And be remembered as a good son, husband, brother and father."

Tiresias nods. "A noble goal. One that is often quite difficult to reach but I wish you luck in the endeavor."
