I would not have thought of pepper. Now I want to try it.

Alas, I am the only jam-eater in my household, and even I cannot consume all the jam that summer fruit tempts me to make.

Nor I, but be of good cheer: you can distribute it among the (jam-)poor, and acquire merit thereby.

I might still have been a teenager, or at most a very new adult, when a friend introduced me to the notion of peppering a strawberry. Since then I have seldom been without a peppercorn or two, just in case the opportunity should arise.

Yum! I have been making micro-batches of jam as well, about a kilo per. They aren't very efficient but I'm liking it better than spending a day making quarts and quarts. This weekend is hopefully peach, market permitting. Possibly cinnamon peach; I haven't decided.
