I didn't know being a medic was so dangerous. I'd always thought driving accidents, not people, would be what killed you on the job.

Your post made me think of this: http://xkcd.com/791/

I tell my kids I love them when I strap them in to their car seats, because it's the place one of us is most likely to be killed.

My cousin was a paramedic for a long time. It's a rough job. I'm glad you're managing through it.

Thank you. This post changes my perspective a little bit. You are a heroic person for doing what you do. I was thinking something along these lines a little the other day - how there are people out there whose job it is to protect other people from other people. And how awesome that is, even though it's sad that such a need for that job exists. (I was even thinking something like police officers or security - not even counting military which is a whole 'nother animal for some people.) So you are in that category of being awesome for helping others with their wellbeing at the risk to yourself.

Love you. I go to work thinking, "Do I check out a bullet-proof vest today or not?" Not, unless I'm going somewhere *really* icky. Yeah. At least I've got guys in green that have my back.... Last night was my last call - I'm almost melancholy (perhaps at the loss of overtime more than working extra) but I won't miss trying to sleep surrounded by 5000 of my favorite guys in blue...
