The Church of Greece could be set to take legal action against the employees of its non-governmental organization (NGO) Allilegi (Solidarity) after the results of an internal probe are made known to the Holy Synod today.

Sources said that the investigation has revealed that funds totaling some 10 million euros appear to be missing from the ( Read more... )

I am not sure if you are an individual or
a news feed of some sort? but taking the liberty
of commenting...and looking back over recent posts...
very few seem to have much relation to the Gospel
or to the world of the Risen Christ...
this is true of course of other lists and papers
of our Church...
I suppose for one thing that the reality of the
Church as seen by God is in simple acts of kindness
and love which do not find their way to the news
services...
but also it makes me think that we must work to
somehow create a new sort of history for our
Church.

Many thanks for your tactful comment. But I can't help it. All the news are open for discussion on Church theme. Well, I don't think I quite agree with you. To "create a new sort of history for our
Church" requires the open doors to admit "acts of kindness and love"...

of course I am not arguing against openness
about all the chaos and wrong...

but I am saying that the future must be made
of a different sort of story entirely.
In fact we could perhaps already find stories
about Orthodox people who are doing something
related to the Gospel...serving the poor...
teaching the Bible... helping the handicapped.
but the structural world of the institution
continues to show the usual symptomology
perhaps you know T S Eliot's poem "the Hippopotamus"
...as
"... The hippopotamus's day
Is passed in sleep; at night he hunts;
God works in a mysterious way --
The Church can sleep and feed at once.

Yes, marvellous! My favourite poet...
Nevertheless, in this context, by my opinon, another poem seems more appropriate, also "the Hippopotamus" by Chesterbelloc:
"I shoot the Hippopotamus
with bullets made of platinum.
Because if I use leaden ones
his hide is sure to flatten 'em":)

link and source? seraphimsigrist July 31 2008, 14:51:37 UTC
Do you have a source for this? perhaps
a link to a story.
I would like to forward it to a couple
of people but an actual article would
be better.

Perhaps I am not understanding? but
I do not see an article that the government
wants to recover 5 million euros given to
Allilegi. This is what it would be useful
to have a concrete source for.
As you may know we have had a comparable but
problem in the Orthodox Church in America
which is quite complex and is chronicled at
the website:

repeat: can we have source please seraphimsigrist August 1 2008, 13:20:58 UTC
Again may I ask if you have a source
for the story posted here. It is not
at the link you gave me.
I need the link for this exact story.

perhaps it is impossible but...

Fr Michael Plekon, a leading theologian here,
seeing your story says that if there is a
source it should be made public here
as it is important but unknown. and of
course it is analogous to problems in the
church here.

thank you for any possible help with
clarifying this
