it came from outer space

And I'm back. A mere 14 months since my last post. /o\ I know sometimes I'm like, I'll do the thing in a bit, I'm just not ready right now, but this is perhaps taking it kinda far? Then again, I did just take 3 weeks to do my dishes, so my DW updates may not actually be the worst of it. IDK. I've been thinking about fandom lately and how LJ used to ( Read more... )

It's so nice to see you update again!

plus they hired me a supervisor and totally changed up the staff dynamic there, for the better, and I am looking to rock the projects on my plate.
Well, yay for you! That sounds awesome. And as if they appreciate you and what you're capabile of. :D

Your kitty is so cute. She reminds me of a little bat-cat we used to have, who was kind of a Holstein-patterned cat with a bat mask. Yours may have more black, overall. She sounds lovely! We're still looking for a new kitty-- no luck earlier this year, but we'll try again after we pick up our son from college. Two more weeks!

Do you still have your other kitty? I know you were watching her for a family who went abroad, but it seemed she became yours after a while. Or did the family finally take her back?

*hugs* to you. :D

Hi! It's nice to be back.

I really lucked out with this work situation. There's an emphasis on professional development, and like I said, my new(ish) supervisor is very much an ally, helps me protect my time, etc.

I'm afraid Leia, of beloved memory, passed away January before last. She developed kidney disease and went pretty fast. But yes, I think she and I were each other's by that point. It makes me happy that you remember her. :)

I tried with a younger cat later that year, but it wasn't really a match; I couldn't match her energy levels and felt a little like she resented me for it. Decided she needed a more stimulating environment and took her back to be rehomed. Then in November I tried again but did more research before going in to meet some cats at the Humane Society, and found a good friend in Zuko, who is very much a lap-cat.

I remember your travails with the kitties you tried a while back and was wondering whether you'd found a good match yet. I know the perfect one is waiting for you. Also, yay, two more weeks! *hugs*

Aw, I'm so sorry about Leia. Kidney disease in cats is like heart disease in humans. It's often the 'old-age' condition, though we lost The Whale to it at 12 and Jinx at 9 to probably a combination of that and her heart problems.

We are very much looking for a lap cat. Of the first two foster sisters we tried, one was too terrified to be rehomed _ever_ and the other got very friendly with me but was scared of HSH. And was a little terror. An adorable little terror. ;)

The other was also persistently afraid of HSH.

We are hoping for a young adult cat that has gotten some of that frenetic play-all-the-time energy out of its system, and also doesn't try to climb on everything. AND is not afraid of HSH.

The shelter was advertising a surplus of adult cats over Memorial Day weekend, but that's when we were going out of town (and would again in 3 weeks). The urge to just Visit All The Kitties Anyway! was overwhelming, but we're holding off. And hoping...
