Question for podfic listeners

So I'm making my very first poll here on LJ. For the few podfic listeners that follow me. I'm thinking about doing a podfic that's been done before, by a very well known podfic artist. SO!

Poll Re-podficcing

I only ask, because it's a very long fic, and I don't want to start it without knowing how people would feel about a re-do.

I like to think of multiple versions as covers of a song: maybe you adore one cover and that's your ultimate version of the song - maybe you disliked the first cover but you like the new one so now you do listen to the song all the time - maybe you like the song so much you want to listen to as many versions as possible/pick the right version depending on your mood that day.

I think there are listeners who won't bother with a repod, but there are some who will love it. As with most things in podfic... *g* Do it if it makes you happy!

And of course I'm dying to know what you're considering! :D

That is a very good way to look at it.

I think, all things considered, if I get the author's permission, that I'll go ahead and do it. The other version is over nine hours long. Sheesh. What am I getting myself into?

Oh, that's a big piece indeed! And I can see how it would be daunting to start, but also interesting to see how you interpret it. Good luck!

Not only is it daunting to start because of it's sheer length, but I know podklb is such a beloved podficcer. I don't want to step on any toes, or try to make it better. Just, different. I want to do it for myself as much as for anybody else, really.
