Goals of (Personal) Behavioral Science

For the first few weeks of Advanced Stats for Psychology we're reviewing stuff that we (should've) covered in Intro Stats. One point today was the "Goals of Behavioral Science":
  1. Explain behavior
  2. Predict behavior
  3. Control behavior

Hmmm, in that order precisely? I'm not sure I do it in that particular order but that may in itself explain something.

Not necessarily. In research itself these steps are often entirely separate, but that's not really something we can do with our personal psyche.

Yep, that's what I figured. It's similar to the steps of grieving; they're not often in order nor orderly.

But then, I don't do that sort of research.

I'm uncertain as to exactly what you're asking but:

Being the fan of introspection I am, I support any and all forays to self-discovery.

Problems/issues/etc should always be confronted.

Remember:

Take care of yourself first.

Because, only then, can you give freely and without fear.

Since, that way, your needs are met.

And you're less likely to suffer from a lack of reciprocation.
