Yeah, I had the same reaction. However, I'm convinced they'll bring him back later for the finale...they have the ring afterall and somehow the whole bright light/crack in the wall story arc must be finished, so hmm. Still unhappy, though.
Is anyone else finding the whole "crack in the wall" thing a bit in your face? Like, they've always had something like that every season, but it's always taken me a while to cotton on... and then usually I only really notice it when I rewatch the season knowing the ending. But the crack in the wall is really front and center in the story-line here and constantly being pointed out and now it's eaten Rory... Somehow that is bothering me. It should be more subtle and curious... Or was I just not as observant in the previous seasons.
I am indeed liking the season in general, though peeved beyond words on the Rory front.
I find myself hoping things like the fact that all those little paradoxes (like seeing himself and Amy from the future and Rory wondering how he can die if he saw that) might actually mean something - and yeah, that it might tie back into the crack in the wall thing. I don't if that's just wishful thinking on my part though.
But to be honest, I didn't find the crack in the wall thing too in your face. I suppose I just always expected them to keep coming back to it from the moment I saw it in the first ep of the season. To me it just the same as Bad Wolf and the Mr Saxon stuff, but I supposed each viewers mileage varies.
