So, I haven’t been very active with my LJ, and I have to admit that a lot of that has had to do with icon shame. “Depudor” has existed as an identity on the internet for over five years now, across a variety of boards and sites, through several fandoms, and yet I never learned how to make an icon. HS stuff is annoying, but it's not really *hell*
I think it was for Joss. ;)
I agree with you -- my high school wasn't bad at all -- no rich kids, no cliques, fairly easy to be popular, even for a brainiac like me. And that's why the mystery aspect is more appealing to me. I do remember being very confused about people and guys.

And I love that these questions are so hard for her to answer, and she's often wrong, and sometimes the good guy turns out to be the bad guy and the bad guy turns out to be the good guy, which makes it impossible to categorize and label people so that they fit into your desperately simplistic worldview.

I so, so agree with this. And I think this perspective of high school fits into my own seriously recent experience of it, rather than the idea that it's hell. I don't know, I just find myself relating to Veronica and how she deals with life and the people in it much more so than I ever did with Buffy. (I know, blasphemy, right?) Obviously they aren't one and the same, etc etc insert general disclaimer here, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know I friended you! I love your posts on TWOP (I rarely if ever post over there, but I'm starcrash if you see me).

Thanks! I am friending you as well. And I totally agree with you, as I posted in my other reply -- I think the mystery metaphor works better than the hell metaphor.

Good point on the metaphor, I'd never really made that conection, but as soon as I read it the shiny little light in my brain lit up.
