Wealth,power, space...and "exclusive"

Wealth and power...I've been thinking about them, and one of the ways of demonstrating wealth and power seems to be related to how much space one can get to call one's own, and how few people one has to share it with. The more wealthy one is, the more space one seems to want...a large house, either a sprawling bungalow or a multistoreyed palace... ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, you've described our living situation. We are far from wealthy but buying a bit of land and building a house with a government subsidized loan at the right time 25 years ago has put us in what is now a privileged (and exclusive) situation here in Spain. Walls are often about security, though, as a very wrong idea about all the wealth we may be harbouring in our home may invite thieves to try and gain entry. Our doors are always open to people who come in peace and friendship.

I should have qualified my post...I am talking about space in India, where it is at a premium, and the less well-off one is, the more one has to share it with lots of others (not necessarily human beings..dogs and cows and rats as well, in the cities!)
