I do love the owls but the sheer variety of what you spot each time just amazes me. The Pheasant-tailed Jacana is just lovely, too. I really enjoy seeing birds I'd never see here!

:) You must meet Sainath, too...he has just as sharp eyes, to spot the bird wherever it is! Nowadays I meet him just once a year, at the Bird Race!

Hey Deepa,

The first Shikra is a juv. The eye colour is neither yellow (female) nor red (male).
We saw the female as well later in the day.

It's the Iris that is coloured.
Retina is the inner lining of the eye on which light strikes to produces impulses.
